Paul Pierce scored a team-high 29 points on Wednesday night, leading Boston to a 109-97 St. Patrick's Day victory over the Knicks.

Our View:The 29 points are the most he's scored since he dropped 35 on the Hawks on January 29. As he continues to get healthier, expect his lines to get more impressive.
March 15, 2010

Updating an earlier report, Paul Pierce (thumb) practiced today and is expected to play Tuesday against Detroit, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Pierce missed three games but felt great at practice today. He'll immediately assume his role as a starter and with the Celtics playing four games this week should certainly be started in all formats.
March 1, 2010
Paul Pierce (thumb) may be able to return to practice today, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:His status against Detroit, however, remains very much up in the air. The Celtics do have four games this week, so if you're feeling lucky, it wouldn't be ludicrous to start Pierce and hope to get three or four games out of him, though it might be best to keep him reserved for one more week just to make sure that he's back and healthy.
February 27, 2010
According to the Celtic's Twitter page, Paul Pierce (thumb) will not play in Saturday's game against the Nets.

Our View:No shocker here as Pierce still has about a week before he's game ready. The good news is he's catching the ball without pain now, but since there is no concrete return date he's best to just keep on the shelf until further notice.
February 25, 2010
Updating an earlier item, Paul Pierce (sprained thumb) will be unavailable for Boston's Thursday night tilt with the Cavs, according to the team.

Our View:He gave it a go, but is simply too unhealthy. He is now expected to miss the "next couple" of games. Stay tuned.

Paul Pierce (thumb) is indeed out tonight against the Knicks, according to the Celtics' Twitter page.

Our View:Pierce has a sore right thumb and is also dealing with a bout of the flu. It's looking like it may be a few more days until he returns, so keep him reserved in the mean time.
February 23, 2010
Paul Pierce sounds like he is going to take a few days off to rest his injured thumb, according to ESPN.

Our View:Consider him doubtful for Boston's Tuesday night showdown with the Knicks, and count on not having him for the rest of the week. Dealing with a number of minor injuries this season, whether or not Pierce can get healthy for the playoffs is a fair question.
February 22, 2010
Updating an earlier report, Paul Pierce will be questionable for Tuesday's game versus the Knicks due to his sore right thumb, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:It was previously reported that the veteran small forward may rest a few days to let his thumb heal. We will keep you posted on Pierce's status for tomorrow.
February 22, 2010
Celtics head coach Doc Rivers is considering resting Paul Pierce in the near future to allow his banged up body (specifically his sprained thumb) to heal, according to the Boston Globe. "I think the thumb, the knee, and the foot, it may have caught up to him right now," said Rivers. "We may have to look at giving him some rest. I don't know yet, but on the surface that's the way it looks like it's going."

Our View:Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Rivers' plan of action does not seem too clear, so it's tough to tell whether or not Pierce will suit up on Tuesday against the Knicks. At this point we'd expect Pierce to play and thus it'd probably be in fantasy owners' best interest to keep him in their lineups, though it shouldn't come as a surprise if he sits out a game or two over the next few weeks.
February 21, 2010
According to A. Sherrod Blakely on Twitter, Paul Pierce (thumb) is questionable for Tuesday's contest against the Knicks.

Our View:Blakely calls Pierce's injury "a problem" and it certainly helps to explain his recent struggles. There's not enough info yet to make a call on whether he'll play Tuesday, but if he isn't able to go the Celtics will continue to lean heavily on Ray Allen and Marquis Daniels should see a bump in minutes.

Our View:Pierce has been dealing with a sore left foot for the past week and was held out of the end of Boston's practice yesterday, but it looks like that move was more precautionary than necessary. It can't hurt to check back in on his status tomorrow, but it looks like Pierce will be active.
February 8, 2010
Paul Pierce was unable to get through the Celtics' practice on Monday after suffering an undisclosed injury, according to the team's Twitter page.

Feel free to drop Tony Allen if you proactively panicked and picked him up earlier.
February 2, 2010
According to NBA.com, the Celtic's Paul Pierce may have a broken foot.

Our View:Nothing is confirmed yet and Pierce still needs to undergo additional tests, but this doesn't look good. Paul Pierce was just 3-of-12 for 12 points on Thursday, but the Celtics still managed to top the Magic 96-94.
