Paul Pierce received his MRI results on his ailing knee, which came back negative, according to the Boston Herald. The MRI showed that there is no significant problem that will hinder him into next season. Danny Ainge said, "It’s what we thought all along. He had a sprained MCL and a bone bruise, and he’ll be fine."

Our View:The injured knee has shown improvement and Pierce now plans to participate in full hoop workouts shortly after the ESPY Awards next week. He looks to be fine and shouldn't carry a red flag as an injury risk for next season.

Paul Pierce plans to undergo an MRI on his ailing right knee this week, according to the Boston Herald. He said, "I’ve still got some soreness in it, so hopefully it’s nothing major where I’ll require surgery. I’m just going to get an MRI while I’m in town. I doubt if I need any surgery just based on it’s getting better and better."

Our View:Pierce doesn't expect to need surgery, but the MRI will decide for sure.

NBA.com reports that Paul Pierce had not slept in 36 hours but the Boston Celtics captain was more than ready to greet the tens of thousands of fans who turned out Thursday to celebrate the team's first NBA championship in 22 years. "We're tired of watching these parades on TV. Now we get to enjoy our own,'' said Pierce, wearing a championship cap and holding the MVP trophy. "I haven't had any sleep yet, so now I'm still enjoying it.''

Our View:Pierce led the Celtics to the team's 17th championship and was easily the MVP of the tournament.
