The Pistons have said they are not interested in trading for Tracy McGrady, but McGrady has reportedly told ESPN's Steven A. Smith that he would welcome a trade to Detroit, according to the Detroit Free Press. "Is Tracy McGrady interested? Yes he is," Smith said. "I spoke to Tracy McGrady earlier. His basic thing is he's very happy in Houston but he wants to win. So whatever is a winning situation for him is something he is more than willing to entertain."

Our View:A deal is not close to being done, but this is certainly something worth keeping a close eye on.
July 13, 2008
The Detroit Pistons say they are not "remotely close" to a deal for Houston Rockets forward Tracy McGrady, according to the Detroit Free-Press.

Our View:Regardless of where he plays, when healthy, McGrady is one of the top players in fantasy basketball.
July 11, 2008
The Pistons are reportedly making a serious bid to acquire Tracy McGrady from the Rockets, according to MLive.com.

Our View:McGrady is injury-prone but can still light up the scoreboard on any given night when healthy, and would hold solid fantasy value if he lands in Detroit.
May 6, 2008
Tracy McGrady underwent left shoulder and left knee surgeries on Tuesday. He had loose particles but no structural damage in the knee. His shoulder contained a slight labrum tear, as well as loose particles, the Houston Chronicle reports. McGrady will need three months to fully recover.

Our View:We hope T-Mac used his 2-for-1 surgery coupon. He is coming off a solid postseason against the Jazz and will have good fantasy value in 2008-09. As usual, though, McGrady will be knocked down the cheatsheets because he's injury-prone.
May 1, 2008
Tracy McGrady had a considerable amount of swelling in his left knee on Wednesday, but he is not worried about his playing status for Friday versus Utah, according to the Houston Chronicle. He said, "I was in there getting a lot of treatment. The knee is pretty swollen today. I don't think it helped immediately, but I'm not concerned." He also commented that he has been finishing with his left hand because he can get better lift when jumping off his stronger right leg.

Our View:McGrady has been held in check during the series with Utah, but broke loose for 29 points in Game 5. It sounds like he will be good to go for Friday.
April 29, 2008
For the Houston Rockets to emerge victorious in a daunting Game 5 playoff scenario that could have been their last game of the season is impressive. Reviewing the box score and understanding what guard Tracy McGrady had to accomplish to seal that win makes the victory that much more astounding. McGrady shot 13-of-26 from the field to score 29 points in leading his team to the win, also adding five rebounds and five assist.

Our View:It was a defensive effort that kept the Rockets intact, but consider this: Three of the five starters for Houston combined to shoot just 7-of-19 from the floor. Only forward Luis Scola managed to keep pace (scoring 18 with 12 rebounds), yet the Rockets managed to stay alive against a very good Utah squad.
April 29, 2008
Tracy McGrady sat out most of practice on Monday to rest his sore knee, but he will play on Tuesday against the Jazz, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Our View:There's no worry about T-Mac missing what could be the last game of the season for the Rockets. We have to wonder, though, if the knee is causing him to struggle with his shot a bit.
April 25, 2008
Tracy McGrady and the Rockets held off the Jazz by two points in Game 3 to claw their way to a 2-1 deficit in the first round.

Our View:McGrady gave is his best tonight with 27 points, five rebounds and seven assists, so despite a poor shooting night, he as just 11-for-26, this has to be considered a wonderful effort for the Rockets star player.
April 23, 2008
As the Rockets suffer what seems to be an annual fall in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the pressure is starting to mount for Tracy McGrady , according to the Houston Chronicle. McGrady has acknowledged that the bulk of the reporters and fans that choose to point the finger at him for the continued playoff failures of this team are starting to get to him.

Our View:McGrady went on an extended outburst after a question arose about those feelings, and McGrady revealed more than a bit of frustration. "It's my fault," McGrady said. "It's my fault we missed free throws. It's my fault we lost both games. Blame me. It's my fault we fouled to tie the game up. That's my fault. It's my fault they get easy layups. It's my fault we're not executing well on the offensive end. It's my fault a couple people in the stands ordered Heinekens and they got Budweiser. It's my fault. I'm sorry." McGrady has played well and it is hard to dismiss the absence of Yao Ming as this team struggles to compete at their top level. McGrady is essentially working with an inferior cast, and the ability to play so well and even qualify for the playoffs has been amazing. We should all give McGrady a pass this season... but the continued struggles are rather worrisome.
April 21, 2008
Tracy McGrady made 9 of 22 shots on his way to 23 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in the Rockets Game 2 loss.

Our View:It's starting to look like McGrady's team will never win a playoff series. He played great tonight, but without more support this series will go the way that all others have gone for McGrady.
April 19, 2008
Tracy McGrady failed to lead his team to a victory in Game 1 as he scored 20 points with six rebounds and seven assists for the Rockets.

Our View:Down 0-1 is not where McGrady wanted to be as he is still in search of his first playoff round victory of his career.
April 18, 2008
Tracy McGrady has been in six playoff series in his career, and his team has never advanced past the first round. McGrady will look to reverse this trend when his Rockets take on the Jazz in Round 1 this year, this according to the AP. “I’m in a position to make it happen,” he said. “I’m eager to advance, but I’m not even worrying about what happened in the past. I’m here again and we’ll see what happens.”

Our View:McGrady and his mates face an uphill battle with Yao Ming on the sidelines, so look for McGrady to be Mr. Everything if the Rockets are to move on.
April 13, 2008
Tracy McGrady was stymied by the Nuggets on Sunday and made only 5-of-18 shots. He finished with 16 points and did not hit a three for the third time in the last four games.

Our View:We imagine T-Mac's sore left shoulder has something to do with his struggles.
April 11, 2008
The Houston Rockets put a nice win on the board by taking out the Phoenix Suns, 90-101, today, and Tracy McGrady had his tricks working in full force. McGrady shot 10-of-23 from the floor, 0-for-2 from the three-point line, and 2-of-6 from the charity stripe to score 22 points, adding six rebounds, and seven assists.

Our View:The team has played well since losing Yao Ming to injury and McGrady deserves all the credit in the world, both for his own prowess and for helping guys like Luis Scola and Rafer Alston step their games up to the occasion.
April 11, 2008
Tracy McGrady will continue to play despite a sore shoulder and he hopes that the treatment he is receiving will help him to improve his recent poor shooting, this according to the Houston Chronicle. "I still have some soreness, but I will be playing (Friday). I really can't tell because when you get an injection it makes your arm a little sore. We'll see as the days go by and hopefully that soreness will get out of there." As McGrady goes, so go the Rockets. McGrady is a good enough player that he can contribute even when he isn't scoring, though it certainly would be nice to see him improve on his 42.5 shooting percentage.
April 10, 2008
Tracy McGrady will play against Phoenix on Friday night after missing Wednesday's game against Seattle with a sore left shoulder, this according to Slam Sports. McGrady, who had recently started wearing a protective wrap, took a pain-killing injection Tuesday, but said he would be ready to play Friday.
April 9, 2008
Tracy McGrady sat out Wednesday's game against Seattle to rest his aching left shoulder. McGrady sprained his shoulder in Houston's 108-100 win over the Kings last month. And while he has played every game since, he's recently started to have issues with the pain. The All Star guard is expected to return to the starting lineup in the teams important final week of play, but his minutes could be limited.
April 1, 2008
Tracy McGrady hoisted 31 shots at the rim in Houston’s troublesome 98-99 loss to Sacramento, hitting just 12 of those attempts (also hitting just 1-of-4 three-point attempts) for 32 points. McGrady also added seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal. We’ve come to expect a better variety from McGrady, but the point total doesn’t hurt by any means.
April 1, 2008

Tracy McGrady skipped Friday's practice to rest his sore left shoulder, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He couldn't practice today," coach Rick Adelman said on Friday. "We'll see how it is (today). He was sore, so he sat out." However, he intends to play on Sunday. It's not his shooting shoulder, so he should be able to continue playing, at least until the next ailment kicks in.
March 27, 2008
Tracy McGrady, who injured his left shoulder, his non-shooting shoulder, in Monday's victory over Sacramento received a shot before the game that left his shoulder feeling "fine," this according to the Houston Chronicle. Mac scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter when he returned to the game -- essentially laying the knockout points on the Timberwolves Wednesday night.

Our View:
March 26, 2008
Tracy McGrady was at it again, working all areas of the court in Houston's 97-86 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. McGrady went just 9-of-25 from the field and a disappointing 0-of-3 from the three-point line, but 5-of-6 from the free-throw line helped him reach 23 points with 11 rebounds, nine assists, and a steal. Despite the horrific field-goal percentage, McGrady enjoyed one of his best statistical performances of the month and seems to be ramped for the playoffs.
March 26, 2008
Tracy McGrady did not practice on Tuesday due to left ankle and left shoulder issues. "Ankle's fine," McGrady tells the Houston Chronicle. "My shoulder is extremely sore. If I had to play today, I'd give it a shot, but I'm in a lot of pain... If I feel this way (today), I'm probably getting an X-ray in the morning. " The Rockets host the Wolves on Wednesday night, and fantasy owners will want to check back for an update.
March 24, 2008
Tracy McGrady overcame an ankle injury in the first quarter and he was still able to finish the game with 17 points and six assists in 41 minutes of action. This wasn't one of his better games, but McGrady still did enough to help lead the Rockets to an eight point victory over the Kings, and that is what it's all about, unless of course you are a fantasy player.
March 22, 2008
Tracy McGrady scored a team-high 26 points on 11-for-23 shooting in the Rockets 109-106 victory over the Warriors on Friday. McGrady certainly did it all on this night as he also had eight rebounds and eight assists, though he did turn the ball over five times in the game.
March 18, 2008
Tracy McGrady was held to just eight points on 4-of-11 shooting Tuesday, as the Rockets saw their 22-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the Celtics. T-Mac saved some face in fantasy terms by dishing out eight assists and pulling down seven boards. It'll be interesting to see how the Rockets respond as a team now that the streak has been broken, but it's safe to assume that T-Mac will be back to his usual production, regardless.
March 10, 2008
Tracy McGrady continued his recent run of strong play with a game-high 19 points on Monday night even though he played less than 29 minutes in the Rockets 19th straight win, the third longest streak in league history. McGrady had four rebounds and four assists as the Rockets dominated from the start of the game as they eventually won by 18 points over the Nets.

March 8, 2008
The power that is Tracy McGrady led the Houston Rockets to another strong win this evening, scoring 41 points with six rebounds and nine assists in the Rockets' 106-96 win over the New Orleans Hornets. The effort since losing Yao Ming has been outstanding as T-Mac lets his true colors show: Get him the ball and get out of the way. Fantasy owners can expect more of the same as the Rockets barrel forward.
March 6, 2008
Tracy McGrady led the Rockets to a 113-98 victory over a Dirk Nowitzki-less Mav squad on Thursday night. McGrady scored a game-high 31 points while dishing out nine assists against only one turnover. The Rockets will go as far as McGrady can take them without Yao Ming, so figure for him to take a whole boatload of shots most nights.
March 5, 2008

February 22, 2008
Tracy McGrady scored 34 points as the Rockets won their 11th straight game with a 100-80 victory over the top ranked team in the Western Conference, the New Orleans Hornets. February 21, 2008
Tracy McGrady scored 23 points and added 10 assists in the Rockets 10th straight victory on Thursday night. This was McGrady's first double-double since February 3rd, a span of six games during which time he has averaged only 14.5 points per game, so it was nice to see some of the old explosiveness tonight.
February 20, 2008
Tracy McGrady had 17 points, adding eight assists for the Rockets in the Tuesday's 93-85 win over the Cleveland Cavs. The Houston shooting guard has struggled since returning from an upper respiratory infection and the All Star break didn't help McGrady's shooting touch. McGrady and Yao Ming, the faces of the Houston offense, combined to make just nine of 38 shots against Cleveland.
February 13, 2008
Tracy McGrady was held to 12 points Monday against the Blazers -- and followed that low-scoring contest with only 10 points in Wednesday's victory over Sacramento. McGrady had scored 40 points in each of the last two meetings against the Kings, but was 3-of-12 from the floor on Wednesday. McGrady has not exceeded 15 points in any of his last four games, averaging 11 points over that stretch. McGrady is clearly not right after missing some practice time and minutes to the flu, yet the Rockets continue to roll winning 17 of their last 20 games.
February 11, 2008
Tracy McGrady was held to only 12 points and six assists on Monday night but the Rockets still won their seventh straight game and 11th out of the last 12. The team might be winning, but it's certainly not because of the production they are getting from McGrady. Over the past three games McG has averaged just 11.7 points a game though he has contributed in the assists category (six per game).
February 11, 2008
Tracy McGrady, whose upper respiratory infection required treatment through most of Thursday and forced him to miss Friday's practice, went through all of Sunday's light practice and said he was almost completely over the condition, according to the Houston Chronicle. February 9, 2008

The Rockets face the Hawks Saturday night, so hopefully the added rest will allow T-Mac to play.
February 8, 2008
Tracy McGrady, who was considered a game time decision due to a "severe upper respiratory infection", was visibly limited throughout Thursday's win over the Cavs scoring just eight points on 3-of-11 shooting. February 7, 2008

January 30, 2008

Our View:Well, he did play in five straight games prior to Tuesday, so we should give him some credit. This is McGrady we’re talking about here.
January 20, 2008
Tracy McGrady finished with nine points, four rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes off the bench Saturday, his first action after missing 11 games with a deep bone bruise in his left knee. McGrady was clearly favoring the knee as the game went along, for what it's worth. "If I were to wait until I get to 100 percent, then I would probably be waiting until the end of the season," McGrady told the Houston Chronicle. "That's an injury that I'm dealing with right now and with that said, I made up my mind that I was going to come out and play."

He'll have his ailing knee evaluated with a workout on Thursday before a decision is made, according to the Houston Chronicle. He has a bone bruise, a strained tendon and tendinitis in the joint. Considering his long history if injury problems, he could easily face a setback and not play Friday. Stay tuned.
