Player Notes
July 21, 2008
Marcus Camby had his introductory press conference with the Clippers on Monday, and he continued to rip on the Nuggets. "I thought the way (the Nuggets) went about it was classless," he tells the AP. "I thought it could have gone down a whole lot better. I’ll get over it once training camp begins when I’m around the guys. You never forget. I’m definitely looking forward to those couple games we play against Denver."

Our View:Camby is slated to start alongside Chris Kaman, and there's no way both big men can both maintain their gaudy rebound and block averages. We still like Marcus when he's healthy, but his key numbers could come down a little.

Marcus Camby was insulted when he heard of the trade that sent him to the Clippers, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "I definitely feel insulted..."Blindsided, distraught, disrespected. All those adjectives. I felt like I was the scapegoat for all the first-round exits (five since 2004). Definitely frustrated because I felt that I gave it my all."

Our View:Camby will take his game to the Clippers as he will attempt to replace the since departed Elton Brand, something he should easily be able to do on defense, but he has no chance to do so on offense.
July 15, 2008
Marcus Camby was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Los Angeles Clippers, in exchange, the Nuggets receive the option to switch second-round picks in 2010, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He's not Elton Brand, but Camby is another presence down low for the Clippers. He will give them rebounds and blocks, but obviously not the points Brand did. His fantasy value should remain about the same, as the team will likely play him and Chris Kaman next to one another

Marcus Camby has responded to the rumors that the Nuggets would like to trade him, according to the Denver Post. Camby wants to remain in Denver and said, "I want to be here, but I also want to be where I'm wanted. Do I feel wanted in Denver? I don't know. Every other day there are trade rumors and stuff like that. I'm just trying to enjoy the offseason. That's all I can really do at this point."

Our View:Camby averaged 9.1 points, 13.1 boards, 1.1 steals, and 3.6 blocks with Denver in 2007-08, and finished second in defensive player of the year voting to Kevin Garnett. Although he has had trouble staying healthy over his career, there would be several teams interested in acquiring his services.

Marcus Camby could get dealt by the Nuggets, according to the Boston Globe. Camby would be the most favorable player to deal in a trade, and Carmelo Anthony would be too hard to replace and is a fan favorite. Camby said, "You hear trade rumors every summer around this time. You just got to take it with a grain of salt. Denver is where I want to be. But I definitely want to be where I'm wanted."

Our View:Camby, who was the 2007 Defensive Player of the Year, will make $11.25 million next season and $10.9 million in 2009-10. The 34-year-old averaged 9.1 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks in 2007-08. He could be a good fit for a veteran team in need of a big man such as Detroit, San Antonio, Miami, or Dallas.

Marcus Camby has landed on the NBA All-Defensive Team, according to the AP.

Our View:Camby only scored 9.1 points per game, but earned the honor by leading the NBA with 3.6 blocks per game, and finishing second with 13.1 boards per contest. He also registered 1.1 steals per game.
April 26, 2008
Nuggets center Marcus Camby was held scoreless in a playoff game for the first time since 2000. The Nuggets lost big, 102-84, to the Lakers on Saturday and now trail 3-0 in the seven game series.

Our View:Camby doesn't play a scoring role for the Nuggets, but getting shutout against the Lakers speaks volumes about how Denver played tonight.
April 9, 2008
Marcus Camby did what he does best in the Nuggets’ 117-99 win over the Clippers, grabbing 18 rebounds (13 defensive) to lead the way for Denver. Camby also added 13 points, four assists, and one blocked shot, giving a solid all-around performance as the Nuggets push to stay in the playoff picture.
March 23, 2008
Marcus Camby continues to own the board for the Nuggets. The veteran center, who is averaging 13.5 rebounds per game, pulled down 15 in Denver's 109-100 win over Toronto on Sunday. Camby is throwing in 10 points and 3 assists per contest to be a fantasy helper at the age of 34.
March 17, 2008
With the Nuggets scoring an amazing 168 versus Seattle, a game that saw eight different Nuggets score in double digits (three going over 20), Marcus Camby shined as the all-around tool of destruction for Denver in the win. Camby scored 13 points, cleaned 15 rebounds off the glass, and earned 10 assists to work as the only triple double on a busy day of NBA action. On nights like this, a consistent performer like Camby can find a multitude of ways to contribute, a performance of pure gold for fantasy owners.
March 11, 2008
Marcus Camby will be re-evaluated today after suffered a right hip injury during the first half of action Monday night, but he was able to finish the game, so that is a good sign. This according to the Denver Post.
March 10, 2008
Marcus Camby didn't fair well in his matchup with Tim Duncan as he was held to just three points and no blocked shots in the Nuggets four point loss. Camby did pull 14 boards so his night wasn't a complete disaster, though he has now gone all five games in the month of March with a double-digit scoring effort.
February 28, 2008
Marcus Camby made 6 of 9 shots on his way to 12 points on Wednesday night. However, as it usually goes with the defensive force, his value lay elsewhere as he pulled 14 rebounds, dished off four assists and blocked five shots on the night. Camby has now blocked at least two shots in 10-straight games.
February 8, 2008
Marcus Camby was sore Thursday after returning from his bruised left knee the night before, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "It held up for the most part," he said. "I was pretty sore (Thursday) morning, but I'll be out there (Friday)." Camby's always in injury risk and may have to rest his knees sporadically the rest of the season, but he's a fantasy freak on the boards and blocking shots, so his owners just have to live with his frailty.
February 6, 2008
Marcus Camby returned on Wednesday night from a bruised left knee that had sidelined him for two games and had 11 points and 17 boards.
February 6, 2008
Marcus Camby has missed the past two games with a left knee contusion but is "shooting to play" tonight. "I want to play — I don't want to sit out games," he told the Denver Post. "I know how important I am to this team."
February 5, 2008
Marcus Camby sat out his second straight game Monday with a bruised left knee, and coach George Karl is wondering if he's played the injury-prone center too much this season. "I think it's more of the wear and tear of an older player," Karl said in the Denver Post. "There's sometimes a need in a season to rest the bones and get the tendons and ligaments a little healthier. Marcus' knee is sore, no question. Just because it's an important game, we don't want to get crazy and put him out for a longer period of time." Karl is likely to be more cautious with Camby once the Western Conference's leading rebounder returns.
February 4, 2008
Marcus Camby, who leads the Western Conference with 14.3 rebounds per game, is questionable for tonight's game because of a bruised left knee, according to the Denver Post. "I would love to have him back — we struggled without his rebounds (against Charlotte on Saturday)," Nuggets guard Anthony Carter said. "You can see a big difference with him out there, changing shots, things like that. He brings a whole different dimension to our team, and we miss him big time, because you can't replace that." If Camby is unable to play tonight, seldom-used Steven Hunter could start at center. Hunter had eight points, six rebounds and two blocked shots Saturday against Charlotte.
February 3, 2008
A left knee contusion kept Marcus Camby from playing on Saturday, according to the Denver Post. "It's been bothering me for a week and a half now. I've just been playing through it," Camby said. "I've been giving it up for the team the last couple of weeks. Everyone's been playing banged-up, though, so that's no excuse. But Monday (against Portland) is definitely a big game. So I'm just trying to get as healthy as possible." The injury might require him to take games off on occasion the rest of the way, but considering the oft-injured center has missed just three games this season, that's not so bad.
January 17, 2008
Marcus Camby had a dominant game in the paint Thursday, rolling up 24 rebounds and 11 blocks in a win over Utah. This makes up for his forgettable offensive night; Camby finished with just eight points on 4-for-13 shooting.
