the Boston Celtics have decided not to suspend forward Glen Davis for his actions that led to him breaking his thumb on Monday, according to the Boston Globe. The team will instead fine the big man and allow him to remain with the team.

Our View:It looks like the Celtics have cooled down a bit about this whole incident, as they will just collect his money and all will be forgiven. Big Baby has admitted his mistake and appears very remorseful, so expect the team to welcome him back when he is ready.

The Boston Herald is reporting that the Celtics have suspended forward Glen Davis indefinitely for his involvement in a fight that caused him to suffer a broken thumb. Davis reportedly violated a fighting provision in his contract, provoking the suspension by the team.

Our View:The Celtics are not happy with Big Baby, and this suspension shows just how angry they are. There have been questions about Baby's maturity since he entered the league, and the Celtics aren't going to put up with it. Still, it sounds like Baby's injury came more from self-defense, so we will have to see how this situation gets resolved.

Glen Davis has revealed to Yahoo! Sports that he suffered his broken thumb when he was "trying to protect himself from a friend who slugged him."

Our View:The fight occurred as a result of an argument over "personal matters," and in a moving car no less. Color the Celtics less than thrilled.

Glen Davis could miss up two months with a broken thumb, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Davis broke the thumb in a fight with a former college teammate, and reports say the team plans on suspending him. Whether or not the suspension will run concurrent with the time he is missing with injury is unknown.

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Celtics have agreed to a two-year deal with forward Glen Davis. The deal is reportedly worth $6.3 million.

Our View:Big Baby tested the waters, but eventually he came back to Boston. Unfortunately, with the team healthy and new pieces added, Baby may be spending a lot of time on the sidelines. He won't have any fantasy value this season unless the Boston front-court gets decimated by injury yet again.

According to the Boston Herald, Glen Davis is claiming that an imposter posted comments on his Twitter page that criticized the Boston Celtics and their management. The comments reportedly mentioned the unwillingness of the team to offer him a contract.

Our View:Boston doesn't have to be in any kind of hurry to work something out with Big Baby since he wasn't signed to an offer sheet by another team, but reports are that the two sides have started talking. We aren't sure if Big Baby is telling the truth about the imposter or just covering his own ill-advised comments, but either way it looks like the situation has blown over.

According to the New York Post, the Nets are interested in free agent Glen Davis.

Our View:The Nets inquired about Big Baby, but also likely can't afford him. The Celtics have the option to match any offer and the Nets don't seem to have the drive or the money to blow Boston out of the water. They would also have to clear a roster spot should they pick him up. He'll likely fall by the wayside with the other front court free agents the Nets have targeted (read: Lamar Odom, Drew Gooden and Marvin Williams).

As many as three teams have reportedly approached the Celtics about a sign-and-trade deal for forward/center Glen Davis, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The C's appear to have little interest in such a move, as they want to keep Davis. While he played very well in the playoffs, he doesn't figure to improve a whole lot on his figures of seven points and four rebounds per game from 2008-09 in 09-10 with the return of Kevin Garnett.
July 15, 2009
Celtics GM Danny Ainge says he is confident the team will be able to keep Glen Davis, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Davis is also said to be coveted by Detroit, Utah, Cleveland, Charlotte, Dallas, and New Orleans, however, so whether or not the C's can really keep their homegrown product remains to be seen. Big Baby has reportedly been spending the offseason getting into much better shape, so he might be in line to improve on his numbers of seven points and four rebounds per game from 2008-09. If not, he won't present a very desirable option in any format.

According to the Deseret News, the Jazz would be interested in restricted free agent Glen Davis if they do not match Portland's offer sheet for Paul Millsap. Davis' camp has said they would be very interested in coming to Utah.

Our View:It looks like Millsap will be heading out to Portland, so the Jazz may have to make a run at Big Baby. Losing Millsap would be a big hit to the Jazz, but replacing him with Big Baby would be a nice move.
July 10, 2009
GM Danny Ainge said on Thursday that the Celtics would still like to keep restricted free agent Glen Davis, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View:Numerous teams have expressed interest in Big Baby, including the Spurs and the Pistons, and the Celtics had displayed little interest in keeping him until now. This is the first real sign that they do indeed plan on having him around in 2009-10.
July 9, 2009
The Pistons are reportedly interested in signing Glen Davis, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The Pistons would like to add Davis to their frontcourt after losing Rasheed Wallace to Boston. Detroit is yet to make him as offer though, and Cleveland, New Orleans and Charlotte are also interested in Davis.
July 6, 2009
While the Spurs have contacted Glen Davis since free agency began last week, they have not yet discussed the specifics of an offer, this contrary to a previous report that stated they were prepared to offer their full mid-level exception to him, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Our View:Davis is an young, improving big body that looks like he could possibly be headed out of Boston following the team's signing of Rasheed Wallace, though the report claims that he's still apparently not too close to signing with any team at this point. Stay tuned.
July 6, 2009
The Spurs are prepared to offer restricted free agent Glen Davis their mid-level exception, which the Celtics are apparently not keen to match, according to Comcast Sportsnet.

Our View:Davis played well for the Celtics in 2008-09, especially in the playoffs, but has been made expendable by the Celts recent signing of Rasheed Wallace. He isn't a great fantasy option at this point, but should stay on your radar no matter where he ends up next season.
July 5, 2009
The Boston Herald is reporting that Celtics' GM Danny Ainge wants to get things taken care of with restricted free agent Glen Davis. The Celtics seem to want to keep Davis, and are able to match any offer made by another team.

Our View:The people of Boston and the organization love Big Baby, but it could be difficult to keep him if they sign Rasheed Wallace. Davis could get a major offer from another team, and then Boston will have a decision to make. Stay tuned.
July 3, 2009
According to Celticsblog.com, there are at least four other teams interested in Celtics' restricted free agent Glen Davis. The teams said to have interest include Detroit, Memphis, New York, and San Antonio.

Our View:It seems likely that Big Baby will end up staying in Boston for next season, but the Pistons seem very interested in his services. He could also fit well with the Spurs, but until something happens it would be smart to assume he will stay in Boston.
June 29, 2009
Restricted free agent Glen Davis has received a qualifying offer from the Celtics, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The Celtics intend to retain his services. He provides solid depth in the frontcourt, as he averaged seven points and four boards over 21.5 minutes per game in 2008-09.
May 12, 2009
Glen Davis had a game-high 22 points in the Celtics' 92-88 win over the Magic. They now lead the series 3-2.

Our View:Big Baby had seven rebounds and two assists as well and hit eight of his 16 shots from the field while playing a team-high 42 minutes in the game.
May 10, 2009
Glen Davis drained a game-winner with no time on the clock to tie the series with Orlando at two. Big Baby hit 9-of-14 shots for 21 points. He scored five of Boston's last six points and also collected six rebounds in the 95-94 win.

Our View:While we have been very impressed with Davis in the playoffs, he was part of the reason why the Celtics had coughed up the lead in the first place. Although he hit 73 percent of his free throws in the regular season, he was just 3-for-8 tonight. Kevin Garnett's replacement is averaging 16.4 points through 11 playoff games.
March 18, 2009
Coach Doc Rivers stated that Glen Davis may be able to return to the court tonight against Miami, according to the Boston Globe. He is recovering from a sprained right ankle.

Our View:If not tonight, Rivers noted that Davis would be back Friday at San Antonio.
March 15, 2009
Forward Glen Davis (sprained right ankle) was given a 50-percent of returning to the lineup Friday by head coach Doc Rivers, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:If Davis does return on Friday, he will have missed five games with the bad ankle. As is the case with Kevin Garnett, who also may return against the Spurs, Davis may return to the lineup without the benefit of a practice since the Celtics will not have a shootaround on their off day on Thursday.
March 11, 2009
Glen Davis has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Grizzlies due to a sprained ankle, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Without Davis and Kevin Garnett, Leon Powe will make the start. Davis is questionable for next week's games.
March 10, 2009
Glen Davis is expected to miss Wednesday's game against the Heat due to a sprained right ankle, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Coach Doc Davis believes he may miss the next couple of games as well. This is a tough loss for the Celtics, as they are already without Kevin Garnett and Brian Scalabrine at forward. Davis was averaging 13.2 points over his last five games.
March 8, 2009
Glen Davis will not be dealt a suspension after receiving a flagrant-2 foul for knocking down Anderson Varejao during Friday's battle with Cleveland, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:This is good news for the Celtics, as Davis has been providing depth at forward with Kevin Garnett and Brian Scalabrine out. He averages 13.2 points over his last five games.
February 1, 2009
Glen Davis did a solid job filling in for Kevin Garnett, who missed Sunday's game against the Timberwolves with the flu. Big Baby went for 12 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists as Boston won 109-101.

Our View:There's a chance that KG may miss a second game, but we wouldn't bank on it. There's no reason to rush out and pick up Davis.
January 22, 2009
Glen Davis scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the Celtics defeated the Magic 90-80 on Thursday. He also had four rebounds and a steal in the game.

Our View:Between Davis and Leon Powe it's tough to determine who will see the bulk of the playing time off of the bench from night to night. Tonight, Davis logged 21 minutes compared to Powe's six minutes.
