Brandon Roy is riding the stationary bike and doing some light shooting in his recovery from left knee surgery. He is still not cleared to jump but head coach Nate McMillan feels that he will be ready by the season opener according to the Oregonian.

Our View:We'll monitor this closrly but don't be surprised if Roy gets off to a slow start once he does return. Furthermore, Portland's depth at guard means the Blazers won't be in any hurry to rush Roy back into action.

The Trail Blazers remain optimistic that Brandon Roy will be ready for the season opener on October 28. He underwent left knee surgery on Thursday and is expected to miss four-to-eight weeks, ESPN.com reports.

Our View:Roy may be a little rusty come the season opener, but the Blazers sound pretty confident that he will be 100 percent. The rising star will be trying to improve on his solid sophomore campaign of 19.1 points, 5.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds.

Brandon Roy showed a quick flash of the brilliance we witnessed earlier this season, working as the offensive force in the Trail Blazers’ 112-103 victory over the LA Lakers. Roy went 8-of-15 from the field and 6-8 from the charity stripe to finish with 23 points, adding 12 assists to complete the double-double effort. Roy has struggled to achieve the massive expectation laid at his feet early in the year, but games like this show he is not falling off so quickly.
April 7, 2008
Brandon Roy returned to the Trailblazers' starting lineup on Sunday after missing four games because of a sore groin. Roy played 40 minutes and scored 18 points, pulled down four rebounds and added four assists in a loss to the Spurs.
April 3, 2008
Brandon Roy had an extended workout Wednesday with a friend and a session Thursday with Blazers athletic trainer Jay Jensen, and both Roy and Jensen said the guard will probably play Sunday for the first time since injuring his groin and hip on March 25, according to The Oregonian. "There's still some pain there,'' Roy said. "But there probably will be for the rest of the season. I want to give it a go.'' Good news for Roy owners who were hoping for some contribution from the young stud before the end of the year.
April 1, 2008
Brandon Roy is scheduled to have an MRI on his right groin sometime in the next 24 hours, according to The Oregonian. After that his availability for the rest of the season will be better determined. Roy has missed the past two games with the strained groin and bruised right hip. If the MRI shows any damage or no signs of healing, Roy said he will probably shut himself down for the remaining eight games. He will sit out a minimum of two more games, and given that the Blazers are out of the playoff race, it would behoove them to not rush their star back into the lineup. We're betting that he's done.
March 28, 2008
Brandon Roy could miss the rest of the season with groin and hip injuries, according to SportsTicker. He will miss at least the next two weeks for sure, but he's hoping to come back at some point. "I'm not saying there is a guarantee I will be able to come back and play, but if I can, that's my goal," Roy said. "Even if it's the last two games, I want to give it a try and finish the season." Well, this news could be worse, but don't expect Roy to help out your fantasy squad the rest of the year.
March 28, 2008
The Trail Blazers got some possibly promising news on Brandon Roy Thursday, according the Oregonian. The information released has their top player back in as few as four games, rather than miss the remainder of the season with a painful groin injury. Roy told reporters he wants to return regardless, so the four games appears to be a compromise. There is no tear in the groin and with any luck, Roy and his team-highs of 19.3 points and 5.8 assists per game, will be back in your fantasy lineup.

Roy injured his groin on the final play of first quarter in Tuesday's win over the Washington Wizards attempting to block a three-point shot by Caron Butler. He landed awkwardly and Butler — who was attempting to draw a foul —landed on top of him. Roy attempted to return to the game, but lasted less than two minutes before leaving once more. Blazers coach Nate McMillan said Roy will not play in Thursday's game against Golden State, but would not speculate on his availability beyond that. Roy, however, is already ruling out the possibility of playing on Saturday against Charlotte.

"For him, he doesn't want to rush back and tweak it again and have to take even more time off," coach Nate McMillan said. "He wants to get as healthy as possible so he's not hesitant. But right now he's still feeling some pain, so I'd say he is doubtful. But we will check on him again (Friday)." Roy rested his sprained ankle for four days but still was experiencing pain in the joint Thursday.

Although Brandon Roy was able to lace up and start Saturday, despite a bruised tailbone, he didn't make it through the first period. Roy ended up with just four points and two dimes. Luckily, the Trail Blazers don't play again until Wednesday, so the added rest may allow him to be ready by then.
