Jose Calderon is likely to miss Spain's gold-medal game against the United States due to a partially torn adductor muscle, according to Yahoo Sports.

Our View:The injury is expected to sideline him for seven to 10 days. He should be fine for the next NBA campaign, but will be gravely missed by Spain in Beijing.
August 21, 2008
Jose Calderon will undergo an MRI on Thursday after straining the adductor muscle in his left thigh Wednesday, according to the Globe and Mail. He stated the injury feels fine, but the test was ordered as a precaution.

Our View:As of now, it seems like Calderon should be able to play in Spain's semifinal contest against Lithuania on Friday in Beijing. Spain is only one win away from a spot in the Olympic gold-medal game.
July 22, 2008
According to Slam!, Jose Calderon scored 18 as the Spain defeated Argentina 90-88 on Tuesday in an Olympic warm-up game.

Our View:Calderon rarely lets you down. In a game featuring Manu Ginobili, Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro and Luis Scola among others, he was the star. Fantasy-wise, Calderon can be considered among the top-5 point guards in leagues that count turnovers.

The Raptors have re-signed Jose Calderon to a multi-year deal, according to the AP. Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed. GM Bryan Colangelo said, "We couldn’t be happier for Jose to be in a position to sign a long-term contract and lead this team as its starting point guard."

Our View:He scored a career-best 11.2 points per game last season while sharing the point guard role with TJ Ford. Calderon is still improving and should be "fantasy worthy" next season as he will have the starting point guard gig all to himself with Ford departed to Indiana. Calderon could realistically challenge the league lead in assists, as he finished fifth last season with 8.3 per contest.

Jose Calderon has re-signed with the Toronto Raptors, according to ESPN.com. "Early this morning, through my agents, I reached a preliminary agreement with the Toronto Raptors," Calderon said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View:This is an update to an earlier story that the team wanted to sign Calderon to a long-term deal. This should put him on the radar for all fantasy owners. T.J. Ford is gone, so his minutes, and numbers, should increase.

The Toronto Raptors will try to sign point guard Jose Calderon to a long term deal, reports the Toronto Star. The paper speculates he could receive as much as $8 million per year.

Our View:With T.J. Ford now in Indiana, Calderon will see more minutes than the 30 per game he had been playing. That will certainly increase his numbers, as will the acquisition of Jermaine O'Neal in the post. Expect Calderon to put up the best numbers of his career for fantasy basketball.

Jose Calderon received a qualifying offer from the Toronto Raptors on Friday, according to the Associated Press. Carlos Delfino also received a qualifying offer which means that the Raptors can match any contract offers they receive from other clubs.

Our View:Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that either, especially Calderon, will be wearing a Raptors jersey next season. Calderon, who led the NBA with a 5.38 assist-to-turnover ratio, has stated that his main goal is to start, and if the Raptors aren't going to give him that option then he wants out.
May 28, 2008
The Raptors are prepared to match any offer that restricted free agent Jose Calderon receives this summer, ESPN.com reports. Meanwhile, the club may be open to dealing fellow point guard T.J. Ford.

Our View:This news shouldn't surprise anyone, as Calderon out-played Ford in 2007-08. If Ford is moved, Calderon will be free to turn into a solid fantasy guard.

Reiterating a position that he put out there about a week ago, Jose Calderon said that he wants to be a starter and that if he can't be in Toronto he wants out, according to Slam Sports. "I would like to start and that's the most important thing," Calderon said.

Our View:Wow, way to be a team player. Who cares about winning as long as you get yours eh Jose? Who would want an attitude like that on their team? Oops, we almost forgot this is the NBA we are talking about, so there are probably 18 teams lining up for his services right now.
May 8, 2008
Jose Calderon, a free agent, has news for the Raptors - he wants to be a starter, according to TSN. "I want to be a starter. I will not be on a team in which I cannot be an important contributor."

Our View:With T.J. Ford in the second year of a three year contract, it doesn't appear that there is room for Calderon to see more time on the court than the 30 minutes a game he averaged this year, which makes it likely he has played his last game for the Raptors.
March 31, 2008
The return of T.J. Ford to the Raptors starting lineup has killed any value that Jose Calderon once had. In 18 minutes of play Monday night, Calderon scored one point and registered but one helper.
March 30, 2008
Jose Calderon registered a double-double against the Knicks on Sunday night as he poured in 10 points and 11 assists, with one rebound. That was his 24th double-double of the season, but only his second in the month of March.
March 26, 2008
The Raptors have moved Jose Calderon to the bench in favor of T.J. Ford, according to the Toronto Star. The move was originally suggested by Calderon, who has averaged 13.0 points, 9.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 threes as a starter (56 games). He won't have nearly as much fantasy value coming off the bench.
March 19, 2008
Jose Calderon notched a double-double in the Raptors' 96-54 win over the Heat as he scored 10 points and 10 assists, along with five rebounds and four steals. That was his 23rd double-double of the season.
March 7, 2008
Jose Calderon just missed a double-double on Friday night as he notched 20 points and 9 assists.
February 20, 2008
T.J. Ford sat out again Wednesday, but he wasn't missed. Jose Calderon continued his stellar play, nailing 8-of-10 shots from the field for 19 points to go along with 13 assists (versus just one turnover). The Spaniard is a terrific fantasy play while Ford is out and is still a pretty darn good one even when T.J. is healthy.
February 13, 2008
Jose Calderon continued his recent stretch of solid play with 22 points and 12 assists against the Kidd-less Nets on Wednesday night. Calderon was 9-for-12 from the field and 3-for-4 from long range. Calderon is averaging a season best 17.2 points in February and he has totaled at least 10 assists in four of the last five games.
February 11, 2008
Jose Calderon went out and proved that he is a special player on Monday night by scoring 27 points on 12-for-17 shooting. He also dishes out six assists. Earlier in the day a report surfaced that Gilbert Arenas didn't think Calderon was worthy of all-star consideration. Whether or not Jose is an all-star is a matter of opinion, but he is certainly a fantasy all-star with a performance like this one.
February 11, 2008
Jose Calderon certainly doesn't have Agent Zero in his corner according to TSN. Gilbert Arenas, responding to the groundswell of support for Calderon to be named to the all-star team had this to say. "I understand Calderon has the best assist-turnover ratio in the league, but you know what's funny? All back-up point guards have the best assist-turnover ratios. Screw it, Kevin Ollie should be an All-Star then!" Wow. Tell us what you really think Gilbert. Calderon may not be an all-star, but he has been a fantastic player this season averaging 12.4 points and 8.9 assists while shooting 53.3% from the field and 92.1% from the free-throw line, and that's plenty good for us.
February 11, 2008
Jose Calderon recorded a double-double Sunday night against Minnesota. The point guard scored 15 points and registered 10 assists in the Toronto win. The return of T.J. Ford, who will continue to come off the bench, will diminish Caleron's opportunities and thus his fantasy value.
