Player Notes
November 23, 2008
Trevor Ariza had another solid effort on Sunday night as he scored 11 points while hitting the boards for 11 rebounds. In addition, Ariza also had five assists and three steals in the Lakers victory.

Our View:Teams don't get to 11-1 without contributions from all over the roster, and the Lakers certainly aren't an exception to that rule. Ariza is averaging over nine points and five rebounds a game, so even though his role is somewhat limited with the club, he is making the most of the limited minutes that are thrown his way (about 24 a game).

Trevor Ariza started at small forward and Andrew Bynm came off the bench in the Lakers 90-99 loss to the Jazz on Tuesday. He played more minutes (30) than any other Laker and finished with 10 points, five rebounds, a steal, an assist and a block.

Our View:Ariza would see a huge boost in his value if he manages to land the starting gig, but even if he were to pull that off, his production would likely be modest.

Trevor Ariza said he will exercise a one-year $3.1 million clause in his contract that will keep him in Los Angeles next season, according to the LA Times.

Our View:Ariza missed four months of the season due to a broken bone in his right foot, and will undergo another MRI exam on Monday. He doesn't expect any problems, and said he feels good.

Trevor Ariza, out since January 20th with a broken foot, returned to action on Friday for the first time playing 5:53 seconds, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Ariza made his only shot and hauled in two boards so this is obviously better news for Ariza than it is about his ability to influence the game on the court.

Trevor Ariza will seek a third opinion on his broken right foot, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Ariza has been sidelined since January, and CT scans on his foot revealed he's not entirely healed. However, it's possible that Ariza could return in time to play at some point in the series against Utah. Coach Phil Jackson said, "I still have optimism. The second round is a long way from being over. We can only hope we had the same kind of success in the last round, but we certainly can't count on that."

Our View:Ariza only averaged 5.5 points over 15.7 minutes per game this season, and the Lakers will be fine without him if he ultimately cannot play.

Trevor Ariza, who is nursing a broken right foot, has a small chance of playing in the opening series against Denver, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:He only averaged 5.5 points over 15.7 minutes per game this season, and the Lakers will be fine without him if he ultimately cannot play.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, a recent MRI on Trevor Ariza's broken right foot was positive. But the report also noted that head coach Phil Jackson doesn't believe Ariza will be back on the active roster before the end of the regular season. It's safe to dump Ariza's 5.5 points and 3.1 assists per game.

The Lakers now expect Trevor Ariza to miss the rest of the regular season, according to the LA Times. They had hoped that he'd be ready to return from his fractured foot by mid March, but it now appears he won't be available until the playoffs. He wasn't a fantasy factor in any but the deepest of leagues, anyway.

Lakers forward Trevor Ariza fractured a bone in his foot during practice on Sunday, and will miss up to eight weeks. Ariza has averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds since being acquired from Orlando on November 20.
