Player Notes
November 30, 2008
Ben Gordon led the Bulls in scoring with 21 points as the Bulls beat the 76ers 103-92 on Sunday. He added six rebounds, four assists, three three-pointers, a steal and a block in the effort.

Our View:Gordon's spot in the starting five looks secure and his production has been good so far this season. He is currently averaging 20.4 points per game but that could increase going forward.
November 26, 2008
Ben Gordon tallied 23 points, but it came in a losing effort as the Bulls fell to San Antonio, 98-88.

Our View:Gordon was 9-of-16 from the field and made two of his four three-point attempts.
November 24, 2008
Ben Gordon shot 6-of-14 from the field, scoring 15 points while collecting five rebounds and three assists in the Bulls' 101-100 win over the Jazz.

Our View:Gordon has certainly had better scoring nights, but his five rebounds are double his season average, which offsets the scoring a bit for fantasy owners.
November 23, 2008
Ben Gordon scored a game-high 28 points on Sunday night but it wasn't nearly enough as the Bulls fell to the Nuggets 114-101. On the night, Gordon was a perfect 9-for-9 from the line while hitting five 3-pointers.

Our View:Gordon is pumping in more than 20 points a night giving the Bulls a consistent scoring option. Still, he had been held to just 24 points in his last two games, so it was nice to see him return to his established level of scoring on the night.
November 19, 2008
Ben Gordon along with Derrick Rose is becoming one of the best scoring guards in the league. Gordon had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Our View:Gordon is a great fantasy option at guard right now. Keep him in your lineup.
November 18, 2008
Ben Gordon will start again on Tuesday for the Bulls, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:Gordon's had a hot hand recently. Look for him to keep putting up nice numbers, even against the Lakers.
November 13, 2008
Ben Gordon had a huge night for the Bulls on Thursday, scoring 35 points. He also had a pair of rebounds and four assists.

Our View:With both Larry Hughes and Kirk Hinrich injured, Gordon stepped up in a big way for the Bulls. His fantasy stock will be on the rise if he can make outbursts like this a more frequent occurrence.
November 8, 2008
Ben Gordon started next to Derrick Rose on Saturday and scored 29 points, but it wasn't enough as the Bulls fell 97-106 to the Cavaliers.

Our View:Kirk Hinrich and Lerry Hughes are both injured and Gordon played 39 minutes as a result. Unfortunately, he hit just 1-for-4 from the three-point line. He won't produce much outside of the scoring categories, but he should do well enough there to make him a valuable fantasy player.
November 8, 2008
The Chicago Tribune reports that Ben Gordon will start for the Bulls at shooting guard on Saturday. Kirk Hinrich (thumb) and Larry Hughes (shoulder) are both out with injuries.

Our View:This is a great break for the shooting guard. Count on him to average over 20 points per game as long as he is starting alongside Derrick Rose.
November 5, 2008
Ben Gordon came off the bench for 31 points in 31 minutes against the Cavaliers on Wednesday. He shot 11-for-19 from the field and 5-for-9 from behind the arc. He also had five assists, a block and three rebounds.

Our View:This was the first time Gordon's scored over 20 this season, but that could be attributed to the fact that he missed all of training camp and most of the preseason with a sore toe. However, Larry Hughes has yet to return from injury and Gordon's minutes figure to decline once he does.
October 28, 2008
Ben Gordon did not start in the Bulls opener but did lead the bench in scoring with 18 points. The Bulls defeated the Bucks 108-95 on opening night in the NBA.

Our View:Gordon has led the Bulls in scoring the last three season and we will have to see how long he is kept out of the starting lineup. Even though he started on the bench Gordon logged 26 minutes.
October 27, 2008
Ben Gordon, who is recovering from a sore big toe, resumed practicing and is expected to be ready for the Bulls' season opener, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:It remains to be determined if he will start the opener, but should still play enough minutes to make an impact. He has notably led the Bulls in scoring for the last three seasons.
October 24, 2008
Ben Gordon will miss yet another preseason game due to his injured left toe though he stated that he would be ready to play in the opener next Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:Gordon could probably score some points off of just one foot, but we certainly would prefer to see him enter the year with two healthy feet. He could get off to a slow start because of the injury.
October 21, 2008
Ben Gordon missed his fourth straight game with a jammed right big toe, according to the AP.

Our View:Gordon is making new coach Vinny Del Negro's task of defining a rotation more difficult by continuing to sit out. In the only game he appeared in this preseason, Gordon led all Bulls' scorers.
October 21, 2008
Ben Gordon, who is recovering from a sore right toe, is expected to return Tuesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:Gordon has led the Bulls in scoring the last three seasons, but may potentially start the 2008 campaign as a reserve. Coach Vinny Del Negro hinted that he may serve as the sixth-man, at least initially.
October 19, 2008
Ben Gordon missed Saturday's game against the Jazz due to his ailing right toe, according to the AP.

Our View:He was able to make his preseason debut Friday, so he may have been held out Saturday just as a precaution. He will keep you posted on his status, namely within the Bulls' rotation at guard.
October 17, 2008
Ben Gordon returned to the court and certainly didn't seem to be too bothered by his injured right big toe as he scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers, in 30 minutes of action. Andres Nocioni also scored 20 in the Bulls victory over the Jazz.

Our View:Gordon looked no worse for the ware tonight as he provided his trademark instant offense from long range.
October 16, 2008
For the first time since Oct. 6, Ben Gordon practiced Thursday with the Bulls, according to the Chicago Tribune. Gordon said he had jammed his right big toe on furniture in his house and only participated in half of the Oct. 6 practice before returning today. "It's still sore," Gordon said. "There wasn't much contact today so I didn't get to test it out as much as I wanted to. I'm just hoping it continues to get better."

Our View:Gordon needs to be available so that new coach Vinny Del Negro can work out a proper rotation and allow fantasy owners to accurately evaluating Bulls' players.
October 16, 2008
The Chicago Tribune reports that Ben Gordon insists his jammed right big toe is "getting better" on a daily basis, but coach Vinny Del Negro said Gordon has shown no progress and the coach isn't sure when Gordon might practice. "Then he has to get into game shape and that's going to take a while," Del Negro said. "Unfortunately, we have too many injuries and it has set us back and been hard to get a consistent rotation. That's frustrating. But it's part of the job."

Our View:His absence from camp has prevented Del Negro from working out a proper rotation and prevented fantasy owners from accurately evaluating Bulls' players.
October 14, 2008
Ben Gordon will miss Tuesday's preseason game as he continues to nurse his sore big toe, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Regarding his return, Gordon said, "Whenever it stops hurting. Just stubbed it on a chair in the house. Anybody who's ever done that knows how painful it is. I won't be behind. I've been paying attention in practice, so I'll be fine."

Our View:He may be learning Vinny Del Negro's system on the side, but is still missing valuable practice time while competing with rookie Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha, and Larry Hughes for a favorable role at guard.
October 13, 2008
Ben Gordon was hoping to return to practice today, but unfortunately remains out due to his sore big toe, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:He is learning a new system under coach Vinny Del Negro, and missing time hurts his chances for a favorable playing time at guard while competing with rookie Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha, and Larry Hughes.
October 13, 2008
Ben Gordon, who is recovering from a jammed right big toe, hopes to practice today, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:It is important for him to return, as he is learning a new system under coach Vinny Del Negro, and is competing with rookie Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha, and Larry Hughes for a favorable role at guard.
October 9, 2008
Ben Gordon sat out the season opener with a sore toe, according to the AP.

Our View:Four other guards - Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha and Larry Hughes - played 19 minutes or more. It remains to be seen how Gordon will fit into the rotation this season.
October 6, 2008
Ben Gordon is dealing with a sore ankle that has limited him in the early going, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Our View:Gordon practiced on Sunday and though he has missed some time with the injury he has still been able to work on his shooting on the side. He'll just need to work on his conditioning once the ankle gets a little stronger.
October 3, 2008
Chicago guard Ben Gordon will play this season on a one-year, $6.4 million contract that will make him an unrestricted free agent after the year, but he did not rule out the possibility of re-signing with the team next summer, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:Gordon rejected a contract that would have paid him nearly $60 million over six years. He averaged 18.6 points, and just over three rebounds and three assists per game last season, hardly the numbers of a franchise player.
October 1, 2008
The AP reports that Ben Gordon finally accepted the Bulls’ one-year, $6.4 million tender offer just before the deadline Wednesday night. Chicago’s leading scorer the past three years, Gordon can not be traded this season but could leave as an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Our View:With five quality guards in the backcourt, Vinny Del Negro will have a difficult task when dividing up minutes. It's unlikely any of the Bulls guards will have much fantasy value as their minutes figure to be too slight to make a major impact.
October 1, 2008
The AP reports that despite promises to practice, Ben Gordon missed both session on Wednesday and has a midnight deadline to sign the $6.4 million one-year qualifying offer from the Bulls. Bulls officials were not available Wednesday to discuss Gordon’s status. General manager John Paxson was expected make a statement on Thursday morning.

Our View:The saga continues but should draw to a close on Thursday.
October 1, 2008
Guard Ben Gordon vowed to practice on Wednesday, but he was not at the morning session, the Chicago Tribune reports. He will either sign a one-year, $6.4 million tender or a six-year, $58 million contract, but the guard hasn't said which way he is leaning.

Our View:Hey, don't rush it, Ben. We editors face similar $6 versus $60 million questions every day, and we know how tough it can be.
September 28, 2008
The Chicago Tribune reports that Ben Gordon will attend Bulls training camp despite not reaching terms on a long-term extension with the team. Gordon, a restricted free agent, told confidants that rocking the boat wasn't his style and he had to remain professional. Gordon is expected to sign the one-year tender offer of $6.4 million by Wednesday's deadline and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Our View:Gordon simply does not have many options here. Not many teams are looking for a defensively challenged, under-sized, perimeter shooter with a terrible assist-to-turnover ratio. And neither should you be looking for that on your fantasy squad. Gordon's eventual return to Chicago makes their backcourt rotation too large for there to be a consistent fantasy value to be had.
September 27, 2008
The Daily Herald reports that Bulls general manager John Paxson believes the long-running Ben Gordon saga will end with Gordon accepting the one-year qualifying offer and becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer.

September 18, 2008
Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf expects guard Ben Gordon to be with the Bulls in 2008-09, even though the two sides are no closer to a deal. "It has to be resolved," Reinsdorf tells the Chicago Sun-Times. "You know, we have a business disagreement relating to the money, but he's still a Chicago Bull, and I expect him to play for the Bulls. I expect him to play hard, and I'd be surprised if it's anything other than that." Gordon is a restricted free agent.

Our View:Training camp is less than two weeks away, so the timeline is narrowing for Gordon and the Bulls. Gordon can't be pleased about the glut of guards on the roster, but he may be best served by signing the $6.4 million tender and using the season to prove to the NBA that he's worth a big contract next summer.
September 6, 2008
The GM of CSKA Moscow denies that he had been talking with Ben Gordon regarding a contract to play overseas, according to ESPN.

Our View:Gordon was believed to be using the rumor as leverage to get a better deal from the Bulls. If he remains in Chicago, his playing time could decrease with a surplus of guards on the team.
September 3, 2008
Ben Gordon is reportedly talking with Russian team CSKA Moscow about signing a one-year deal, according to the Daily Herald.

Our View:The Bulls have been unable to make progress with the restricted free agent through the summer, and it appears he may prefer playing overseas rather than accepting the one-year qualifying offer from Chicago worth $6.4 million. His playing time with the Bulls could also decrease with a surplus of guards on the team.
August 30, 2008
Rumors out of Salt Lake City have the Jazz giving a strong look towards the situation between the Chicago Bulls and guard Ben Gordon, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. A potential trade involving either Andrei Kirilenko and/or Ronnie Brewer seems to have the local hardwood fans excited about giving point guard Deron Williams a worthy running mate.

Our View:In terms of salary, Matt Harping might also make sense if the Bulls would have interest in adding the talented swingman. There is also concern attached as the Jazz might consider dealing Carlos Boozer, due to become a free agent next season. If the talks swing that way, it could become rather intriguing and will definately include several names of interest. We will keep you posted.
August 16, 2008
Ben Gordon believes he has seen his last days in Chicago, and he is currently exploring sign-and-trade possibilities, according to the ESPN.com. "I guess it's safe to say I've played my last game in a Bulls uniform," Gordon said. He also proclaimed the chances of him being traded as "very likely."

Our View:Gordon and the Bulls have been at an impasse on his contract for quite some time, and the end seems to be near. Gordon's agent even suggested that his client could play in Europe next season.
August 11, 2008
Ben Gordon has been offered a deal of $59 million for six years by the Bulls, but it appears unlikely that it will be accepted, according to SB Nation.

Our View:Gordon wants more money, don't we all, and appears very dissatisfied with the current offer. He could always turn it down and sign a one year qualifying offer, but he appears to be trying to find a way to leave the Bulls.
August 3, 2008
As time moves along it is becoming more apparent the Bulls and guard Ben Gordon are likely to reach an agreement on a new contract, according to the Chicago Daily Herald. According to the Herald, the Bulls don't want to pay the luxury tax, and unless that policy changes, they have a finite amount of money to offer Gordon to start a new contract.

Our View:With Derrick Rose added to the roster, there are too many guards to go around in Chicago. Gordon appears ready to take a stand and volunteer to be moved. Finding a team willing to work a sign-and-trade package may be difficult, but there is time as the Olympic team has taken the focus of fans and summer leagues are slowing down a bit. Don't be surprised to see Gordon moved if a team finds a need for a respectable shooting guard.
August 1, 2008
The Chicago Bulls and guard Ben Gordon are still far apart in their contract talks, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Gordon wants about $12 million per season, while the Bulls have offered around $9 million.

Our View:Gordon has leverage, as he could simply sign his qualifying offer and bolt in free agency, or attempt to work out a sign-and-trade. Unless he leaves for Europe, he can be a solid contributor to fantasy squads with his scoring.
July 30, 2008
Ben Gordon has been shopped by the Bulls this month in various sign-and-trade scenarios, according to ESPN.com. Gordon, who also holds a British passport, this week publicly acknowledged that he would consider following the lead of Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent Josh Childress by accepting a lucrative offer overseas, although his preference is to stay with the Bulls.

Our View:Gordon's agent thinks he should be the highest paid Bull on the roster because he has led the team in points per game for three straight seasons. The Bulls should be pointing out that he has also led the team in turnovers per game for three straight seasons despite the fact he is not considered a ball-handler. Gordon will not likely reach an extension with the Bulls, as they have too many young backcourt players as it is, but a sign-and-trade is possible. Otherwise, he will have to choose between taking the $6.4 million qualifying offer from Chicago or seek out a more lucrative deal overseas.
July 22, 2008
Ben Gordon and the Bulls are not close to reaching a new deal, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:The two sides are still far apart, and a new deal may not be agreed upon until later in the fall.
June 18, 2008
According to the Daily Progress, Ben Gordon says he would like to play for the New York Knicks. He is a restricted free agent this summer and feels that if Derrick Rose is the pick, there won't be enough minutes for guards in Chicago. Gordon grew up in nearby Mount Vernon, NY.

Our View:With Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes, Ben Gordon and Thabo Sefolosha all playing guard, it would appear the Bulls would have to move at least one player in order to make room for Rose. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni is known to covet perimeter shooters like Gordon.
May 29, 2008
GM John Paxson is denying the news that Doug Collins is going to be named the Bulls' new head coach, according to the Sports Network. Paxson admitted that the two sides were talking but said nothing was imminent, and added, "I have been in contact with Doug Collins in regard to our head coaching position. Contrary to some reports that are currently out there, we have not reached an agreement. Right now, his commitment is covering the Western Conference Finals for TNT. When that series concludes, we will continue our dialogue. In the meantime, I will continue to talk to other candidates and review our options."

Our View:Recently, Collins stated that he did not want to leave his broadcasting job with TNT but that was before the Bulls landed the top overall draft pick in the NBA Draft Lottery.
May 29, 2008
Doug Collins is expected to be named the new head coach of the Bulls, according to ESPN.com. Collins has a good relationship with GM John Paxson and owner Jerry Reinsdorf, and that led to the decision to bring him back to Chicago. He was fired in 1989, despite leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference finals, and was then replaced by Phil Jackson.

Our View:He has also coached the Wizards and Pistons. His overall record is 332-228, 15-23 in the postseason.
April 17, 2008
The Bulls fired interim head coach Jim Boylan on Thursday, this according to Slam Sports. "I was brought in here in the middle of the season," Boylan said yesterday. "It's kind of a tough situation...Sitting in the head coach's seat was comfortable and enjoyable. I loved the challenge."

Our View:There is a whole ton of blame to go around in Chicago and this will likely be the first of many changes in the Windy City this off-season.
April 11, 2008
Ben Gordon will miss the rest of the season with a lower abdominal strain, this according to the AP. “It just really wasn’t improving all that much,” interim coach Jim Boylan said. Gordon finishes the year averaging 18.9 points on 43.1% shooting and both he and the Bulls will hope to improve in 2008 on this disappointing effort.
April 5, 2008
The Bulls Mr. Offense, Ben Gordon, led the team with 18 points on Saturday night as one of only three players who scored in double figures. This year has seen a regression in Gordon's shooting percentage, scoring average, rebounds and assist totals. However, all the numbers are still right on his career averages but they are still slightly below the totals he posted last season.
April 2, 2008
Ben Gordon was limited to nine points in 15 minutes of action against Boston on Tuesday night. He only shot 3-of-8 from the field and picked up five personal fouls in a short period of time. That was his lowest point total since February 29, when he only scored six points against Washington.
March 17, 2008

March 7, 2008
Ben Gordon scored a team leading 20 points for the Bulls but he only hit 6-of-16 shots (3-of-8 from long range).
February 25, 2008
Ben Gordon scored only five points last time out but he rebounded on Monday night scoring 25 points for the Bulls off the bench. Gordon is certainly Mr. Offense in Chicago and he should continue to pour in the points as long as he is able to remain healthy.
February 22, 2008
Ben Gordon came through with 37 points to lead seven Bills in double figures in Chicago's 135-121 victory over the Nuggets. Gordon was ultra effective going 12-for-18 from the field including six made three pointers. A much better performance than his first game back from an injured wrist when he scored just 14 points on 5-for-15 shooting.
February 20, 2008
Ben Gordon still intends to play through his sore wrist on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Of greater interest is whether he'll be traded before Thursday's deadline. He said he's considering signing a one-year tender to play for the Bulls next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent. That led the Bulls to shop him around a bit, but so far, they haven't received any good offers. Stay tuned.
February 19, 2008
Ben Gordon plans to return to action Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's been out since Feb. 4 with a sprained wrist. Re-insert Gordon into your lineup right away.
February 12, 2008

February 10, 2008
Ben Gordon will have an MRI on Monday to take a look at what might be wrong with his injured wrist, something that has kept him out out of the past three games. Gordon is the Bulls leading scorer at 20 points a game, and the Bulls certainly miss his instant offense. Stay tuned for the results of the test. AP
February 9, 2008
Ben Gordon had hoped to be able to return to action on Saturday, but that won't be the case, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Both Gordon (sprained right wrist) and Kirk Hinrich (bruised ribs) were ruled out after this morning's shoot-around.
February 8, 2008
There's at least a chance that Ben Gordon could return to action for Saturday's game against the Jazz, according to the Chicago Tribune. Of course, there's been a chance he'd return for several games, but he's remained on the bench. There's a probably a more realistic chance that the Bulls will just sit him out until after the All-Star break to allow his ailing wrist to heal better.
February 8, 2008
Chicago guard Ben Gordon registered another DNF Thursday night due to a sprained right wrist. Gordon is not expected to fully practice until sometime next week and shouldn't be starting in fantasy lineups until he's able to string together two 30-plus minute performances.
February 7, 2008
Ben Gordon didn't play Wednesday night because of a sprained right wrist that has plagued him of late, according to the AP.
February 2, 2008

January 27, 2008
Ben Gordon did not take part in Saturday's practice due to his ailing right wrist. The Bulls list him as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Suns, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Look for Gordon to test his sprained joint out in pre-game warmups to determine if he'll give it a try.
January 25, 2008
Ben Gordon skipped his second straight game Friday due to a sprained right wrist. An MRI taken Thursday revealed no damage, according to the AP. He's considered to be day-to-day at this point, so with any luck he'll be back soon.
January 25, 2008
Ben Gordon underwent an MRI examination of his sore right wrist Thursday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Results have not been made available yet. Gordon, who didn't play Wednesday night or practice Thursday, is expected to see a specialist Friday.
January 24, 2008
Bulls guard Ben Gordon didn’t play on Wednesday due to a sprained right wrist he suffered on Monday night in Memphis, the Chicago Tribune reported. X-rays were negative and Gordon did practice on Tuesday.

Our View:The fact that Ben practiced a day after suffering the injury should mean that he won’t be out for long.
