James Jones is hoping to return to action sooner than the initial projection of three months after undergoing successful surgery Saturday to repair a ruptured tendon in his right wrist, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Jones expects to have his cast taken off in about a month and said his comeback will be determined by how he responds to rehab. Jones provides solid depth off the bench, but holds very little fantasy value.

Forward James Jones underwent right wrist surgery over the weekend and will be out three months, the team informed the Miami Herald on Monday. Jones ruptured his extension tendon.

Our View:This news is simply an update of what we already knew. Jones is a nice body off the bench, but he had no fantasy value.

The AP reports that forward James Jones will undergo wrist surgery and miss up to three months, the team announced Thursday. Jones suffered a ruptured extensor tendon in his right wrist during Wednesday’s practice.

Our View:Last season, Jones appeared in 58 games for the Portland Trail Blazers and averaged 8.0 points and 2.8 rebounds. Daequan Cook and Dorrell Wright figure to benefit from Jones' absence but neither will have fantasy value.

James Jones sat out Sunday's practice with a sprained wrist according to the Miami Herald. The injury is not thought to be serious and he is listed as day-to-day.

Our View:The free agent acquisition from Portland is the best perimeter shooter on the Heat and he may hold some sleeper value depending on how new coach Eric Spoelstra decides to use him. There are not many minutes to be had on the wing in Miami.
July 9, 2008
James Jones has landed with the Heat, as he signed a five-year deal on Wednesday, according to the AP. Terms were not fully disclosed, but it is reported he will make $4 million next season.

Our View:He is a South Florida native and played at Miami University, so signing with the Heat is a homecoming for him. He will provide the Heat with a dangerous weapon from long-range as he hit 44.4% of his attempts with Portland last season.
July 8, 2008
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Miami Heat will offer James Jones a four year deal.

Our View:Jones played college ball in Miami and would welcome the chance to come back. He was one of the league's best shooters last season when he shot 44% from three and nearly 88% from the free-throw line.
June 26, 2008
James Jones has reportedly decided to opt out of his contract with the Blazers to become a free agent, according to the Oregonian.

Our View:He would have made just over $3.1 million next season if he remained in Portland next season. He provides a strong presence in the locker room, and excels as a long-range shooter as he hit 44% of his attempts from three-point land in 2007-08.
June 16, 2008
James Jones hasn't decided whether or not he will exercise his $3.2 million player option and remain with the Trailblazers, according to The Oregonian. He has until June 25th, the day before the draft, to make up his mind. "I was a finance major in college and in business you don't make decisions until you absolutely have to," Jones said. "I'll wait all the way up to the 25th to make a decision."

Our View:Jones was limited to just 58 games due to a knee injury, but he started basketball activities and is apparently progressing well. Jones was happy with his role with the team this year, and could very well return to the Pacific Northwest.
April 15, 2008
James Jones hit six 3-pointers and had 20 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 113-91 victory Tuesday over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Our View:Jones didn't received the playing time many believe he should have this year. His 22 minutes per game didn't allow him to maximize his talents.
February 29, 2008
James Jones hopes to lace 'em up and hit the hardwood for Friday's game, according to the Oregonian. "He's most likely going to go," coach Nate McMillan said. "But we are going to keep our options open and list him as a game-time decision." Jones has been out with a sore left knee.
