James Jones has reportedly decided to opt out of his contract with the Blazers to become a free agent, according to the Oregonian.

Our View:He would have made just over $3.1 million next season if he remained in Portland next season. He provides a strong presence in the locker room, and excels as a long-range shooter as he hit 44% of his attempts from three-point land in 2007-08.

James Jones hasn't decided whether or not he will exercise his $3.2 million player option and remain with the Trailblazers, according to The Oregonian. He has until June 25th, the day before the draft, to make up his mind. "I was a finance major in college and in business you don't make decisions until you absolutely have to," Jones said. "I'll wait all the way up to the 25th to make a decision."

Our View:Jones was limited to just 58 games due to a knee injury, but he started basketball activities and is apparently progressing well. Jones was happy with his role with the team this year, and could very well return to the Pacific Northwest.

James Jones hit six 3-pointers and had 20 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 113-91 victory Tuesday over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Our View:Jones didn't received the playing time many believe he should have this year. His 22 minutes per game didn't allow him to maximize his talents.
