The New York Knicks have long been the rumored destination for LeBron James when he becomes a free agent in 2010, but the New Jersey Nets may have put themselves in a better position to sign him by acquiring contracts that expire that summer, according to the Miami Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:Acquiring Bobby Simmons and his contract that expires in 2010 will free up enough cap space for the Nets to go after James. His friendship with Jay-Z, a part owner of the team, certainly won't hurt when the team tries to acquire him.
June 24, 2008
New Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh isn't just building for the near future. His long-term plan calls for the Knicks to land LeBron James when the superstar becomes a free agent in two years, the New York Daily News reports.

Our View:The Knicks will presumably overhaul their roster to include young talents and expiring contracts. They're putting a lot of eggs in the LBJ basket and presuming LeBron will want to leave his native Ohio two years from now. The fallback may be that they end up with enough cap space to pursue other studs in 2010, like maybe Dwyane Wade.

The game was much closer than should have been, but despite an outstanding performance from LeBron James , the Boston Celtics emerged victorious, 97-92, in Game 7 to take the Eastern Conference semifinals, 4-3. James went 14-of-26 from the field but just 3-of-11 from three-point range, balanced by 14-of-19 from the charity stripe to finish with 45 points, adding five rebounds, six assists, two steals, and just two turnovers in the loss.

Our View:The next highest scorer for Cleveland was guard Delonte West, posting 15. That won't cut it, but LeBron made it close.
May 17, 2008
How much does home court matter in the NBA playoffs? To the Celtics, it seems to matter as much as anything. More than any other team, the Celts have seemed to feed off the energy of their home court. A perfect 7-0 at TD Banknorth Garden, Boston has simply dominated playoff opponents in their own barn. Through those seven victories, they haven't allowed an opponent to break the 90-point barrier in a single contest. And how do the Cavaliers do on the road? They are 2-4 away from home, which doesn't bode too well in their Game 7 trip to Beantown. Then again, it's hard to count the Cavaliers out of any important game as long as LeBron James is playing.

Our View:The Cleveland icon has finally gotten comfortable offensively (scoring 35 and 32 points, respectively, in his past two games against Boston).
May 16, 2008
LeBron James generated a game-high 32 points and 12 boards in Friday's crucial 74-69 win over the Celtics in Game 6. James also contributed six assists, two steals, and one block.

Our View:His eight turnovers in the game were forgiven, as his heroics helped the Cavs tie the series 3-3.
May 14, 2008
LeBron James had 35 points for the Cavaliers on Wednesday night but it wasn't enough as the Celtics won Game 5 by the score of 96-89 to take a 3-2 series lead.

Our View:James added three rebounds and five assists in the loss.
May 14, 2008
After scoring 30 or more points in four of six playoff games against the Wizards, LeBron James hasn't scored more than 21 in any game of this series.

Our View:During Game 4, James was seen aggressively chewing out teammate Aleksandar Pavlovic over Sasha's defense. While James is often seen as a one-man band, four other Cavaliers (Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Wally Szczerbiak, Daniel Gibson, and Delonte West) are averaging at least 9.5 points per game in the postseason.
May 12, 2008
LeBron James scored 21 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Celtics 88-77 in Game 4 on Monday night

Our View:James, who was shooting a pathetic 22.4 percent from the floor after three playoff games against Boston, was again off the mark finishing the contest but 7-for-20 from the floor. Cleveland's win sends the best-of-seven series to a 2-2 tie.
May 12, 2008
It has become clear that Boston is going to all but ignore the secondary scorers for the Cavs, and make LeBron James beat them. But if Game 3 is any indication, they might need to start worrying a little more about Cleveland's non-LeBron. Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak stepped it up in Game 3 with center Zydrunas Ilgauskas chipping in for a Cleveland win.

Our View:James is shooting an atrocious 22.4 percent from the field.
May 10, 2008
With the end coming all too close for view, the Cleveland Cavaliers put their foot on the gas and put an impressive win on the board, taking Boston to task 108-84. Of course, forward LeBron James was the catalyst for the charge, going 5-of-16 from the floor, 3-of-5 from the three-point line, and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line to score 21 points. James also added five rebounds, eight assists, four steals, and three blocked shots to the stat line.

Our View:All things told, it was a sub-par evening for LeBron, but his teammates (namely Delonte West) stepped it up and the team effort prevailed.
May 8, 2008
LeBron James had another awful shooting game as the Cavs lost 89-73 to the Celtics to fall behind 2-0. James, who was 2-for-18 in Game 1, and he barely improved tonight as he went 6-for-24 from the field and 9-for-13 from the line on his way to 21 points.

Our View:This is nowhere near the type of effort that the Cavs will require to beat the favored Celtics. You can't figure on him having three straight games like this, though we would have bet you he wouldn't have had two straight like this.
May 8, 2008
LeBron James claimed First-Team All-NBA honors, according to the Boston Globe. James led the NBA in scoring (for the first time in his career) with 30 points per game. He also averaged 7.9 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks per outing.

Our View:This season, King James became the youngest player to score 10,000 career points. He was named to the First-Team for the second time in his career.
May 6, 2008
LeBron James had a rough Game 1 against the Celtics, to put it nicely. The superstar shot 2-of-18 from the floor and missed all six of his three-point shots. He finished with 12 points, nine assists, nine rebounds, and 10 turnovers.

Our View:He almost had a quadruple-double, right? We never thought we'd see James shoot this badly. Expect him to come back with a huge outing in Game 2.
May 2, 2008
LeBron James scored 27 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out 13 assists for his third career playoff triple-double as the Cavaliers beat the Wizards 105-88 on Friday night.

Our View:It was the third consecutive season that the Cavaliers eliminated the Wizards. Each of the playoff series ended on Washington's home floor.
April 30, 2008
The Cleveland Cavaliers fell one-shot short of securing their 1st-round playoff series against the Washington Wizards, that shot coming in the final second of play off the fingers of LeBron James and rimming out of the basket to give the Washington Wizards a hard-fought 88-87 victory to bring the series to 3-2 in favor of the Cavs. James was up to his usual production but failed to take full advantage of his opportunities, going just 8-of-21 from the field and 3-of-9 from the three-point line in his worst shooting performance of the series thus far. James did add 15-of-18 from the free-throw line to score 34 points on the evening, adding 10 rebounds, seven assists, and two blocked shots to the stat line.

Our View:That final shot was the heartbreaker in the loss, but the plethora of misses from the floor were the difference.
April 27, 2008
As the career highlights continue to pile, Cleveland phenom LeBron James continues to defy the odds and lead a team that, on paper, appears too shallow to compete for victories over squads boasting far more talent and potential. Today, King James shot 11-of-25 from the floor, 3-of-8 from long range, and 9-of-14 from the free-throw line to score 34 points, his third 30-point performance in four games against the Wizards. James also added 12 rebounds, tied with teammate Ben Wallace for the game high, and seven assists, the Cavs' team high on the day.

Our View:What else can you say about this kid? It's incredible and defies comprehension to those of us who viewed this series and firmly believed the Washington Wizards would not only compete but could take the series and move forward. Instead, James is once again taking the helm and control the fate of his squad, emerging victorious much more often than not.
April 27, 2008
As the Cavaliers seek to get a strong hold on their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Washington Wizards in Game 4, currently leading the series 2-1, it is hard to deny the lack of support around LeBron James is the top concern of the day. Through three games, James has just 19 combined assists with 12 of those helpers coming in the Game 2 win.

Our View:In their Game 3 72-108 loss to the Wiz, only one other player posted a double-digit scoring total, that being backup shooting forward Devin Brown. Guard Delonte West scored 16 in the first game of the series but has scored just EIGHT combined points since. Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas has been the main vein of support for James, scoring 22 points in Game 1 and 16 in Game 2, both resulting in wins. However, he managed to shoot just 4-of-10 from the field in Game 3 and posted a lowly nine points. Both of those players need to make strong contributions of the Cavs are going to support James and move their playoff hopes forward.
April 24, 2008
LeBron James scored 22 points with seven rebounds, but the Cavs were still thumped big time by the Wizards 108-72 in Game 3. The Cavs lead the series two games to one.

Our View:While James was on the court, the Cavs were outscored by 24 points on this night as the squad failed to shot even forty percent (they finished at 39.7%).
April 21, 2008
LeBron James scored 30 points and the Cavaliers destroyed the Wizards 116-86 to take a 2-0 series lead.

Our View:James almost pulled of a triple-double on the night with 30 points, nine boards and 12 assists, but it would be nice to see him more efficient from the free-throw line than his 10-for-17 effort tonight.
April 19, 2008
LeBron James wasted no time in announcing his presence in this year's NBA playoffs, shooting 12-of-19 from the floor and 8-of-14 from the free-throw line, scoring 32 points of the 93 total points the Cavs scored to beat the Washington wizards in Game 1 of the opening series, 86-93.

Our View:James attempted just two three-point shots (making neither) and instead concentrated on driving the lane and spending time around the basket. James added six rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocked shots to the stat line as well.
April 16, 2008
Updating an earlier report, LeBron James will not be in uniform for the Cavaliers' season finale against the Detroit Pistons this evening, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View:James has been hampered in recent weeks by back spasms and there is little to gain with tonight's battle with the Pistons, thus it makes perfect sense to leave the franchise out of harm's way.
April 16, 2008
LeBron James is likely to sit in the Cavs' regular season finale tonight, according to the Beacon Journal. It is unofficial, but he is believed to sit out to rest his back before the playoffs.

Our View:He scored 30 points and just under eight boards over 75 games this season, and would best serve the team by resting up tonight.
April 14, 2008
LeBron James scored 27 points on Monday against the 76ers and helped the Cavs lock up the fourth seed. The superstar will now sit out the regular season finale on Wednesday, the AP reports.

Our View:Hopefully you're not counting on LBJ to win you a fantasy championship this week.
April 13, 2008
LeBron James took it easy on Sunday, shooting only nine times in a win over the Heat. He finished with 13 points, 11 boards, seven assists, two blocks, and one steal.

Our View:James is pretty good even when he's not going full out. Fantasy teams in championship games may be disappointed by his point total, though.
April 11, 2008
LeBron James scored 24 points in the first quarter against the Chicago Bulls tonight, but he managed to post just 10 more over the next three as the Cleveland Cavaliers managed to loss yet another game against a lackluster opponent, 95-100. LeBron finished going 13-of-21 from the floor, just 2-of-6 from the three-point line, and a worrisome 6-of-12 off the Charity stripe to score 34 points, posting just six rebounds, two assists, and three steals today.

Our View:LeBron won't put too many 34-point stinker on the board, but this could have been oh so much more.
April 11, 2008
LeBron James dropped a 24 spot on the Bulls in the first period on Friday night as he hit all 10 of his shots from the field. LeBron finished one point off the United Center's scoring record for one period held by Jalen Rose. We will update how this game turns out for King James later tonight.
April 10, 2008
After rumors ran wild on Wednesday that Cavaliers' LeBron James might miss the game with his sore back, the All Star dropped 33 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and two blocks to lead Cleveland to a 104-83 win over the Nets. The telling tale that James will be able to play through his back injury is that he logged 35 minutes in the game.
April 9, 2008
LeBron James, who sat out of practice for two days to rest his ailing back, scored 33 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added eight helpers in the Cavs Wednesday night win over the New Jersey Nets. James looked good despite favoring the his back on more than one occasion.
April 9, 2008
Following an ongoing report, LeBron James has been cleared to play and is expected to be on the floor for the Cavs tonight as they face the New Jersey Nets, according to CBSSports.com. James has been troubled by back spasms and the team is troubled in trying to determine if the team's best move is to let James rest or let him keep playing. It now seems the choice has been made, but fantasy buyer beware. If he has any sign of problems at all, LeBron will be pulled without a second guess.
April 9, 2008
LeBron James is battling back spasms, but he vows to play tonight, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Coach Brown has commented about possibly giving James a game or two off before the playoffs begin, but the Cavaliers are trying to hold on to the fourth playoff spot, as well as homecourt advantage in the first round. James averages 30.2 points, eight boards, and 7.3 assists per contest, and there is a good chance he will be on the court tonight.
April 8, 2008
LeBron James sat out of practice again today, his second consecutive day without work on the hardwood, and may miss more time as he tends to an aching back, according to SI.com. James has battled back spasms for some time, and with the playoffs quickly approaching, he is now receiving specific treatments to prepare for game action against the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday night. Coach Mike Brown notes James could miss that game if his condition does not improve. “I know he wants to play, but we have to be cautious with him now.” Stay tuned.
April 7, 2008
LeBron James sat out practice on Monday to rest his ailing back that has been bothering him for the past couple of weeks, this according to NBA.com. "One day helps,'' he said. "But it's something where you need a little more than one day.'' James hopes to play in the team's next game on Wednesday, but with the playoffs approaching there is a chance he could sit out a game or two or at least have his minutes monitored very closely for the rest of the season.
April 5, 2008
LeBron James scored 17 points with seven rebounds and nine assists on Saturday, but the number that really stands out is 16, as in the number of the 22 shots that James took that failed to find the bottom of the net. James also turned the ball over five times in the game, so perhaps that minor back soreness is starting to take a slight toll on James.
April 4, 2008
LeBron James had to fight through lower back soreness on Wednesday night, and he is not sure about his status moving forward. "It was pretty bad... it was tough to do things I wanted to do," James explains to the Akron Beacon Journal. "I know tomorrow it is not going to be too good. Hopefully I can get it better for Saturday." We'll update his status when more is known.
April 2, 2008
LeBron James went 11-of-19 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in leading his Cleveland Cavaliers to a 118-114 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. James finished with 29 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocked shots, a typical performance from a man worthy of MVP consideration.
March 30, 2008
LeBron James poured in a game-high 26 points in Sunday night's 91-88 win over the Sixers. he also just missed a triple double with nine assists and nine boards, to go along with three steals. He bounced back nicely from a subpar 13-point effort against Detroit on March 29.
March 29, 2008
The Detroit Pistons held a clinic on defense this evening, holding Cleveland’s LeBron James to 4-of-17 from the field (.235) and 1-of-5 from three-point land to total just 13 points, his lowest single-game point total since the first game of the year (2-of-11 for 10 points vs. Dallas). If you want to take anything from the game, it may be that Detroit is ramping up to make defense the focal point of their drive, James is all but void (once again) of a supporting cast that works, and the East (with the possible exception of Boston) is not up to the challenge.
March 22, 2008
As has too often been the case, the efforts of LeBron James have gone to waste as the Cavs fall, 98-108, despite his personal gains. LeBron scored 29 points with 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the loss.
March 21, 2008
LeBron James scored 29 points, 23 in the first half, as he became the leading scorer in Cavs history in just his 5th season. James also pulled 12 rebounds and dished out five assists as he continues to methodically destroy all opponents in his way.
March 19, 2008
LeBron James was once again the force on the floor, leading the Cavs to an important 89-73 win over fellow Eastern Conference power Detroit. LeBron played 41 minutes, going 11-of-19 from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point land to finish with 30 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. If LeBron keeps this up, another trip to the Finals could be in the cards for Cleveland. Putting the wood to Detroit certainly strengthens their confidence.
March 17, 2008
LeBron James led the Cavs with 30 points in their 104-90 loss to Orlando. He also contributed nine rebounds, six assists, and one block. He is averaging 35.3 points over his last nine games.
March 16, 2008
Once again LeBron James enters a performance that carries the Cavs to a win, putting 33 points with 10 assists, seven rebounds, and two blocks on the board in a 98-91 win over the Charlotte Bobcats. The kid is well on his way to averaging a double-double and has the Cavs in position to battle with the best in the East. Tonight just adds another brick in a growing wall of support for James' MVP campaign.
March 13, 2008
LeBron James had a good night of work as he contributed 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in a two point loss to Washington. His points were down, but you can't complain about his full stat-line.
March 12, 2008
LeBron James enjoyed another productive night at the office, but the result was a troubling loss to a lackluster club. The Cavs lost 99-104 to the New Jersey Nets as James scored 42 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists. The numbers will keep fantasy owners happy, but the loss shows why this team will struggle against almost any west-coast team on the plate.
March 10, 2008
LeBron James posted a triple double on Monday night as he scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished 11 assists in the Cavs 88-80 victory over the Blazers. James lost his streak of 5-straight games with 30 points, but a triple-double more than makes up for that.
March 8, 2008
LeBron James racked up 38 points, including five triples, and pulled down 11 rebounds against the Pacers on Saturday. James hit 11 of his 12 free-throw attempts and has averaged over 80 percent from the charity stripe during his past five games. If he could ever gain real consistency as a free-throw shooter, he'd be the undisputed No. 1 fantasy baller. But he's averaged 72.9 percent for his career and just 71.3 this season. At 10+ attemtps per game, it can be tough to overcome in roto leagues.
March 6, 2008
For the third straight game LeBron James scored at least 37 points as he totaled 39 points in the Cavs 107-96 loss to the Bulls. James had only one assist and three boards on the night as only two other Cavs scored in double digits: Devin Brown had 15 points while Wally Szczerbiak had 14.
March 5, 2008
LeBron James scored 50 points with 10 assists and eight rebounds pushing the Cavs to a 119-105 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, according to the Associated Press. February 27, 2008
LeBron James returned in the second half after giving everyone in the basketball world a scare with his injured ankle. On the night he scored 26 points to become the ninth fastest player in league history to record 10,000 points. James ended the night making only 7 of 24 shots, but considering the panic that went through everyone's minds when he was injured in the first half, this performance still has to be considered a solid outing.
February 27, 2008
LeBron James injured his leg while driving to the hoop in the first half, and he will likely not return to the game. X-rays were negative. We will report details as they become available.
February 20, 2008
LeBron James was held without a field goal in the first half (0-for-7) on Tuesday night and the Cavs were beaten by the Rockets, 93-85, at Quicken Loans Arena. It was only the second time this season that James was 0-for in the first half since the season opener against Dallas on Oct. 31. James still finished with his 15th career triple-double, 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
February 17, 2008
LeBron James was named the All-Star game MVP for the second time in three years after scoring 27 points with eight rebounds and nine assists in the East's win.
February 13, 2008
LeBron James pumped in 39 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the Cavs loss to the Spurs on Wednesday night. James foisted up 31 shots, hitting 17, while playing a game-high 42:44. You don't need us to tell you who the king is do you?
February 11, 2008
LeBron James scored 29 points and added 10 assists in the Cavs victory on Monday night. While Larry Hughes was scoring 40 points, James was efficient going 8-for-15 from the field and 12-for-15 from the line. He also tossed in seven assists in a tremendous all-around effort. If Hughes can start producing on a consistent basis, and Zydrunas Illgauskus stay stay healthy in the middle, James should have plenty of room to do his thing while being able to not have to win every game on his own.
February 11, 2008
LeBron James scored 30 points in Sunday's lopsided loss to the Nuggets. James wasn't his well-rounded self adding just five rebounds and three assists to his point total. In James' defense the Cavs are missing several key players to injury.
February 8, 2008
LeBron James recorded 32 points and seven rebounds as the Cavaliers were pummeled by the Houston Rockets 92-77. The Rockets held every Cleveland hoopster but James to a dismal shooting performance. James went 12-for-23. The rest of the team went 19-for-55.
February 5, 2008
LeBron James pleaded no contest to driving 101 mph on his 23rd birthday in December and was ordered to pay $259 in fines and court costs on Tuesday, according to the AP. We're guessing that he can afford to pay the fine, but we'll have to wait to see if his car insurance goes up too high. King James returned from his sprained ankle on Saturday and neither the joint nor the ticket should slow him down when he faces the Celtics tonight.
February 2, 2008
The availability of LeBron James for Saturday's game remains uncertain. However, he said if he couldn't run tonight, he'd definitely be ready for Tuesday's game, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. King James missed Thursday's game due to a sprained right ankle. He may benefit from the extra rest if he waits for Tuesday, but if the joint feels strong enough Saturday, you should see him at tip-off.
February 1, 2008
The status of LeBron James for Saturday's game is unclear after he missed Thursday's run due to a sprained right ankle, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He sustained the injury during Wednesday's game and managed to score 17 points, including the game-winner, after sustaining the injury, but the joint tightened up overnight. At this point, the Cavs haven't given any indication that it's anything but a minor sprain, but we should know more in the next 24 hours.

January 4, 2008
LeBron James sat out Thursday's practice due to a sore right big toe, though he's considered probable for Friday's game with the Kings, the AP reports. Head coach Mike Brown says James is fine and is likely to go Friday.
