Yao Ming traveled with the Rockets to Utah in order to support his teammates. He reiterated that his rehab from a stress fracture in his left foot is going well. "It's better than I thought," Yao tells the Houston Chronicle. "They told me that I would be using crutches for 10 weeks. But this is the eighth week, and I'm walking without crutches."

Our View:Yao was playing like a first-round fantasy pick until he busted his foot. He's logged only 57, 48 and 55 games in the last three seasons, and it will be interesting to debate his value heading into the 2008-09 season. The center should be healthy well in advance of training camp and may even play in the Olympics.

Yao Ming will be allowed to lose the crutches he has been on since he had surgery on his left foot, this according to the Houston Chronicle. "I still need to wear the walking boot for a couple weeks, but at least I can walk by myself. My hands are not busy anymore."

Our View:Yao still hopes to be able to participate in the Olympics, and it sounds like he is off to a good start in his recovery.

The Rockets will be the only team missing its starting center when their first-round series against the Utah Jazz begins on Saturday. The Rockets will be without Yao Ming and point guard Rafer Alston making the Rockets all the more dependent on All Star shooting guard Tracy McGrady.

Our View:McGrady, arguably the best shooting big guard in the league, can't carry the Rockets to the second round himself.
