Jamaal Tinsley's agent has approached the Pacers about buying out his contract, the Indianapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Our View:The Pacers have been searching for a trade partner for Tinsley.
October 4, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley could still be traded to the Nuggets after all, according to the Indianapolis Star. It was erroneously reported Friday that Tinsley was dealt, but a person familiar with the situation said the point guard could be traded for real as early as Monday. Point guard Chucky Atkins and center Steven Hunter would go to the Pacers in the deal.

Our View:We're not going to speculate any more on this deal. We'll let you know when and if it happens.
October 3, 2008
A trade reported by the New York Post that said Indiana was trading Jamaal Tinsley to Denver for Chucky Atkins and Stephen Hunter is untrue, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "I think there have been conversations because everybody knows the Nuggets are looking for a point guard and Indiana another big. But I don’t think anything is imminent or close," said Hunter's agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Our View:Tinsley is not allowed to come to Pacers camp because of off-court incidents, and the team is desperately trying to move him. This trade, or a similar one, may in fact be in the works, but it appears as if it is not happening today.
October 3, 2008
Point guard Jamaal Tinsley was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Denver Nuggets for Chuckie Atkins and Stephen Hunter, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Tinsley had long been rumored to be leaving the Pacers, and he will join the Nuggets, and likely compete with veteran Anthony Carter for the point guard spot.

Larry Bird reiterated that Jamaal Tinsley has played his last game with the Pacers, according to The Indianapolis Star. "It's the same thing we've said all summer, we're not buying him out," Bird said. "He will stay where he's at until we get something done. Jamaal knows that, his agent knows it and we know it. Nothing has changed."

Our View:Tinsley can still be a very useful performer, he did score 11.9 points while dishing off 8.4 assists per game last season, but his attitude has him on the complete outs with his current club. Tinsley will sit at home and wait in Atlanta until a trade is worked out.
September 18, 2008
The Wizards and Warriors aren't interested in acquiring guard Jamaal Tinsley, the Indianapolis Star reports.

Our View:That's not a good sign. Larry Bird is apparently already through the "W" part of the phonebook, and he may need to start over at the beginning. The Bobcats, Bucks, and Bulls can expect calls soon.
September 11, 2008
Team president Larry Bird provided the clearest statement to date regarding the status of point guard Jamaal Tinsley. Bird informs NBA.com, "Jamaal will not be on our team this year."

Our View:Tinsley's status hasn't been a secret, as trade rumors have been flying for a while. The Pacers will probably still try to deal him, but Tinsley could also be released or bought out.
September 4, 2008
Co-owner Herb Simon said recently that Jamaal Tinsley "probably outlived his welcome" with the Pacers, and the team is trying hard to trade him. However, if they cannot find a team to take his $21 million contract, they would think about buying it out, though they do not want to do that, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:The paper notes that Tinsley's name plate is gone from what used to be his locker, and when the owner says you're not welcome, that's usually a bad sign. But everyone across the league knows the Pacers want to move him, so their chances of getting anything significant for him are not high.
August 6, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley has fallen out of favor in Indiana, according to the Indianapolis Star. Team co-owner Herb Simon said, "Tinsley, he's probably outlived his welcome here. He's a very talented player. Teams will give us a hard time because they know it's better for him and for us to have him play somewhere else. We're confident that we'll find a good place."

Our View:Tinsley is likely to be traded, and could benefit from a fresh start and serve as a solid point guard with another club.
July 27, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley has been losing a good amount of weight during his offseason workouts according to the Indianapolis Star. The Pacers have aggressively been trying to trade the seven-year veteran, but teams are wary of his conditioning, attitude and contract. Jamaal reportedly put on 20 pounds while injured last season.

Our View:There are teams that need point guards and Tinsley certainly needs a fresh start as it appears the Pacers are not willing to keep him this season with T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack now in the mix. A deal for one of Sacramento's many power forwards makes sense as the swap would fill needs for both teams. Tinsley is a dark horse in fantasy leagues if he gets traded. For his career he has averaged seven assissts and 1.7 steals per game.
July 16, 2008
The Pacers offered Jamaal Tinsley to the Heat for Udonis Haslem but were turned down, according to the Indianapolis Star. Indiana is hoping to trade for or sign a power forward, and they would like to deal Tinsley now with T.J. Ford in tow.

Our View:The Pacers are confident they'll be able to deal Jamaal somewhere with so many teams looking for a point guard.
June 24, 2008
Don't expect to see Jamaal Tinsley playing for the Pacers next season. The Indianapolis Star reports that Larry Bird told a room full of reporters that he was "below" thin ice.

Our View:Tinsley does not shoot very well and he cannot defend but he did manage to average over eight assists per game last season. A team desperate for a point guard will take a flyer.
March 1, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley said on Friday he still doesn't know when he'll be able to play again, according to the Indianapolis Star. Tinsley's still battling an ailing knee. With his extensive injury history, there's a realistic chance that he won't play again this season, but you never know. If the Pacers follow through with their plan to sign Flip Murray, it's likely a sign they don't expect Tinsley back anytime soon.
February 24, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley has missed the team's last seven games with a knee injury. Tinsley has no definitive date to return to active duty.

Our View:
February 20, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley will not play the remainder of this week, according to the Indianapolis Star. Coach Jim O'Brien said last week he expected the point guard to return after the All-Star break, but clearly Tinsley's sore knee remains an ongiong problem.
February 13, 2008
Pacers coach Jim O'Brien expects Jamaal Tinsley to return after the All-Star break, according to the Indianapolis Star. The guard has missed the past three games and six of the past nine with inflammation in his left knee.
February 10, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley will be sidelined until after the All-Star game because of his injured knee. "They saw some inflammation in (the knee)," Tinsley said after an MRI was performed. "It's something they say will have me out a couple of more games, hopefully until right after the All-Star break, but I really don't know right now." Tinsley has already missed five of the last 11 games with the injury, and though he is shooting just 38.0% from the field, it certainly is darn near impossible to replace the 8.4 assists he has averaged through 39 games this season. Jamaal Tinsley came off the bench Tuesday for the third straight game since returning from a sore knee. He played just 18 minutes and was limited to only two assists and eight points. Travis Diener has been holding his own, starting in place of Tinsley, which has allowed the Pacers to ease Tinsley back into the mix. On the other hand, the Pacers now have lost seven straight games, so we may see Tinsley starting again soon. Let's hope that's the case, since Tinsley has basically no fantasy value in his current limited role.
February 3, 2008
Pacers coach Jim O'Brien plans to watch Jamaal Tinsley closely, as the point guard works his way back from a sore knee, because he doesn't want Tinsley to miss a large chunk of this season like he has in previous campaigns, according to the Indianapolis Star. "When Jamaal came back off the inactive list, he had missed 10 out of 21 games," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said. "I'm concerned. Not last year, but the previous two years, he missed half the games. I'm concerned about his ability to sustain this season when again he comes back and tweaks his knee in the first half. He's been fighting knee difficulties all year." Tinsley came off the bench again Saturday, playing 21 minutes. He should resume starting soon, but his injury concerns are legitimate.
February 2, 2008
As expected, Jamaal Tinsley returned to action on Friday after missing three games with a sore knee. He came off the bench and scored just two points, though he managed to dole out eight dimes. It's not clear when Tinsley will return to the starting mix, but it shouldn't be long.
February 1, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley should return to action on Friday, according to the Indianapolis Star. "I'm still not 100 percent, but the sharp pains aren't there anymore," Tinsley said. He's been out of the past three games due to a sore knee, but it appears it's safe to get him back into your lineups.
January 26, 2008

January 25, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley sat out Thursday’s game against Milwaukee due to soreness in his knee, the AP reported. He is day-to-day.

Our View:We’re starting to see the old Tinsley these days. He’s missed seven games since December 28th and the trend will likely continue.
January 25, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley sat out Thursday's game with a sore knee. He's listed as day-to-day for now.
January 19, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley was back in uniform Saturday after being de-activated for one game per Jim O'Brien's decision. Tinsley finished Saturday's loss with four points and 13 assists, playing just under 36 minutes.
January 17, 2008
Pacers coach Jim O’Brien told the Indianapolis Star that Jamaal Tinsley sat out Wednesday’s game because of an injured knee, but Warriors forward and Tinsley buddy Stephen Jackson said Tinsley was suspended for an incident during a film session on Tuesday. Others confirmed the suspension, although it was unclear how long it will be.

Our View:Tinsley was suspended for a game last season by Rick Carlisle for excessive tardiness, so he’s not exactly your model practice player. Hopefully it’s just a one-game deal.
January 9, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley (hamstring) returned to action Tuesday and played just under 29 minutes at Utah. He finished with 13 points, five assists and six turnovers.
January 7, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley took part in some conditioning work during the Pacers' morning shootaround Sunday. The point guard hopes to return to action at some point during the next week, according to the Indianapolis Star. Tinsley missed his fifth consecutive game Sunday due to a sore left hamstring, but we may see him back in the mix during the remaining four games on the Pacers' road trip.
January 5, 2008
Jamaal Tinsley got in a couple of on-court workouts on Friday. Tinsley said he plans to play during the Pacers' five-game road trip, but he's not sure if he'll be ready for the first game on Sunday, according to the Indianapolis Star. Tinsley has missed the past seven games with a sore left hamstring, but it appears he should be back in the mix soon.
January 2, 2008
