Richard Jefferson seems resolved to the fact he'll need to undergo surgery on his injured right ankle, according to the New York Post. "This is more of a chronic problem that needs to be fixed at some point," said Jefferson. "There's stuff floating around in my right ankle: little fragments, little pieces, little bone spurs. That's why it needs to be addressed. That's why it keeps flaring up."

"He just had some discomfort (on Wednesday night)," head coach Lawrence Frank said. "Richard usually plays with discomfort. It's a bit of a nagging injury, but yet based on what they say, it shouldn't be serious. But once it happened, we decided that we should bring him to the doctor."

The New York Daily News reports that the sore ankle that forced Richard Jefferson out of last night's game was not the same joint that knocked him out earlier this season. The severity of the injury to his right ankle isn't clear, but obviously it's a positive that it's not an aggravation of his previous injury.

No swelling, more just like a bruise." Lamond Murray, who had eight points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes Monday, would likely replace Jefferson in the lineup on Wednesday if he is unable to play.
