Rick Sund will become the new general manager of the Hawks after the two sides reached an agreement on Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The 56-year-old Sund has worked for the Bucks, Mavericks, Sonics and Pistons over the past 34 years.

Our View:The Hawks had an opening after Billy Knight stepped down in early May. Sund wasn't their first option and isn't a sexy pick, but he's an NBA veteran. His first job will be to decide what do with head coach Mike Woodson, whose contract expires on June 30.

Joe Johnson shook off a poor shooting night to hit a crucial 3-pointer with 1:07 remaining and the eighth seeded Hawks have forced what most thought impossible, a Game 7 with Boston. Atlanta beat the top-seeded Celtics 103-100 on Friday night.

Our View:Johnson was 4-for-13 from the floor scoring only 15 points in the win.

The Atlanta Hawks have lost, at least momentarily, their luster, taking a 110-85 loss in Game 5 of their 1st-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Atlanta guard Joe Johnson , as he has done all season long, continues to carry the load on offense, shooting 6-for-11 from the field, 2-of-4 from three-point range, and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe to score 21 points in the loss.

Our View:Johnson has been a consistent scoring force, but the Hawks simply couldn't keep up with the frantic pace set by the Celts.
