Kearns back with Nationals
Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals activated right fielder Austin Kearns from the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

The 28-year-old was placed on the DL with a right elbow pain on May 22. In the meantime, he underwent surgery to remove loose particles in the elbow and just completed a seven-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus.

Before suffering the injury, Kearns was in the midst of a season-long slump, hitting just .187 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in through 42 games.

Player Notes
Dmitri Young, 1B Friday 7/4, 4:59 PM CT
Dmitri Young went 2-for-2 in Friday's 3-0 shutout loss to the Reds in Cincinnati. He hit a single and a double, which accounted for the Nationals' only extra base hit of the day.

Our View:Young should remain a serviceable infielder for NL-only leagues.
Jason Bergmann, P Friday 7/4, 4:45 PM CT
Jason Bergmann allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings in Friday's 3-0 shutout loss to the Reds, with three walks and five strikeouts. Both earned runs came on a Ken Griffey Jr. two-run homer.

Our View:Bergmann falls to 1-6, and hasn't won a decision since May 15, when he fired seven scoreless innnings against the Mets.
Felipe Lopez, 2B Friday 7/4, 3:44 PM CT
Nationals infielder Felipe Lopez is available for trade, according to Nationals.com "We are open to any trade that will make us better long-term," general manager Jim Bowden said.

Our View:Lopez was once a highly touted prospect who many thought would turn out to be great. And for one season in 2005, he was. He stole a few bases in past years, making him a tolerable fantasy player, but this year he has been terrible, and a change of scenery isn 't likely to change that.
