Alex Rios, RF Friday 7/4, 11:03 PM CT
Alex Rios went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 8-2 loss to the Angels. Both hits were singles. He also racked up a pair of stolen bases.

Our View: Rios had nine multi-hit games in June, and is off to a good start in July.
A.J. Burnett, P Friday 7/4, 10:51 PM CT
A.J. Burnett was rocked for eight runs (six earned) on 12 hits over seven innings in Friday's 8-2 loss to the Angels, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: Burnett can only be solid for so long, and tonight's punishing loss snapped a two-game winning streak. He has given up six or more earned runs in three of his last seven starts.
David Eckstein, SS Friday 7/4, 8:14 AM CT
The Baltimore Orioles have looked into acquiring shortstop David Eckstein from the Blue Jays, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: It is well known that Toronto is looking to offload Eckstein and his $4.5 million salary. However, in terms of fantasy play, his move to Baltimore would do very little to increase his value.
Adam Lind, LF Thursday 7/3, 1:44 PM CT
Adam Lind will stay the Blue Jays' regular left fielder, according to MLB.com. "He's pretty much going to be playing. I haven't really come out and said that to him, but I think I'm trying to show it to him," said Toronto manager Cito Gaston.

Our View: The 24-year-old Lind has not had a great season, hitting just .217 with a .260 on-base percentage, but he does provide some power, with three home runs among his ten hits. Fantasy owners will probably want to stay away from him unless he can start to provide a little more at the plate.
David Eckstein, SS Thursday 7/3, 10:27 AM CT
The Blue Jays are not satisfied with the play of shortstop David Eckstein, and are actively searching for a shortstop in the trade market, according to the Toronto Sun.

Our View: Eckstein just does not bring much to the table in terms of fantasy value. In deep AL-only leagues, he may be someone to think about, but in mixed leagues, there are better options to have on your team.
A.J. Burnett, P Thursday 7/3, 10:23 AM CT
A.J. Burnett is on the trade block, and the Blue Jays hope to get a shortstop in return for his services, according to the Toronto Sun. The Phillies, Brewers and Orioles recently had scouts watching him, says the paper.

Our View: Burnett is one of the most frustrating players in all of fantasy baseball. He can dazzle at times, and in his last two starts, he has thrown a combined 15 innings allowing just eight hits and one earned run while striking out 18. However, in his previous two starts before that, he was hideous, giving up 12 hits and 10 earned runs in 10 innings combined. If you have Burnett on your fantasy squad, you just have to live with the ups and downs he will bring you.
Adam Lind, LF Thursday 7/3, 12:09 AM CT
Adam Lind went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, and was the Jays' lone source of scoring in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.

Our View: Lind now has three homers and 10 RBI over 14 games played this season. Six of his RBI have come over his last three games.
Dustin McGowan, P Thursday 7/3, 12:04 AM CT
Dustin McGowan surrendered four earned runs on six hits over six innings in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Seattle, with one walk and five strikeouts.

Our View: McGowan falls to 6-7 with a 4.36 ERA. He is 1-3 over his last four starts, and has allowed four earned runs in three of the four over that span.
Vernon Wells, CF Wednesday 7/2, 12:26 AM CT
Vernon Wells went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Seattle. He hit two singles and a double.

Our View: Wells is hitting .444 (8-for-18) over his last four games, with one homer and four RBI.
Shaun Marcum, P Tuesday 7/1, 8:12 PM CT
The Toronto Blue Jays are indicating pitcher Shaun Marcum could be activated from the disabled list as early as July 21st, according to MLB.com.

Our View: Should Marcum experience no setbacks in his recovery from a strained right elbow, Toronto pitching coach Brad Arnsberg said the starter could be activated by July 21 at the earliest. Even then, Arnsberg added that Marcum likely would be limited to around 60-70 pitches in his first outing. The 26-year-old Marcum began a throwing program on Saturday at Toronto's complex in Dunedin, Fla., where he's playing catch on flat ground for the time being. Arnsberg noted that it will probably be at least another week before Marcum can pitch off a mound again. Marcum has been sidelined since June 19 with strained ligaments around his elbow and forearm in his throwing arm. On June 23, the pitcher was examined by renowned arm specialist Dr. James Andrews, who determined that Marcum's injury didn't require surgery.
