Jays' Wells out for a month
Dunedin, FL (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells will miss the next month with a strained left hamstring.

Wells left the team's spring training facility after the injury on Monday and will undergo an MRI to evaluate the extent of the damage.

"Right now, preliminarily, I'd say he's going to miss four weeks," said Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi.

Wells battled through several injuries last season, including a left hamstring injury, and batted .300 with 20 home runs and 78 RBI in 108 games.

Player Notes
Aaron Hill, 2B Sunday 9/5, 3:36 PM CT
Aaron Hill went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in Toronto's 7-3 win over the Yankees Sunday.

Our View:Hill ripped a two-run shot and added two runs of his own in the lopsided win, the second time in five games that he's driven in multiple runs. He's struggled with his average this season, holding just a .215 mark, but the power is there lately with four of his 22 homers coming in his past 11 outings.
Vernon Wells, CF Sunday 9/5, 3:33 PM CT
Vernon Wells cranked a two-run shot in the first inning of Toronto's 7-3 win over the Yankees.

Our View:Wells finished 1-for-3 but used his only hit to make a big difference while adding three total RBI in the win. The homer gives him 24 on the season and two in his past 10 games. He's now hitting .226 after going 0-fer four times over the same stretch.
Rommie Lewis, P Saturday 9/4, 11:14 PM CT
Rommie Lewis has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Our View:In 53.1 minor league innings this season, he has posted an unseemly 7.59 ERA. Twenty-eight years old, his recall is a curious one.
