Yanks' nine-run seventh helps New York top Texas
Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Jason Giambi belted a grand slam and drove in six runs as New York broke out of an offensive slump and avoided a sweep by trouncing Texas, 18-7, in the finale of a three-game set.

The 18 runs were a season-high for the Yankees as were the nine runs scored in the seventh inning. New York had managed to scratch out just four runs in its previous three games.

Alex Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and scored four runs for the Yankees, who snapped a three-game skid. Jorge Posada, Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu each added two RBI a... More...

Player Notes
Johnny Damon, LF Friday 7/4, 2:11 PM CT
Johnny Damon has left today's Red Sox - Yankees contest after slamming into a fence attempting to make a catch, according to the Hartford Courant.

Our View:The extent of Damon's injuries are not known at this time. We will keep you updated.
Brian Bruney, P Friday 7/4, 2:03 PM CT
Brian Bruney went two innings, giving up two hits and one run in a rehab appearance, according to the Associated Press. "My arm felt great, so I'm excited," he said.

Our View:Bruney was good in relief this year, and though he doesn't hold much value in traditional fantasy formats, he may accumulate some holds when he comes back.
Phil Hughes, P Friday 7/4, 1:55 PM CT
Yankees starter Phil Hughes threw 90 feet from flat ground today, according to the Associated Press. He will attempt to throw off a mound in the coming weeks.

Our View:Hughes has tantalized fantasy owners with his talent but has yet to really put it all together. He needs to stay healthy and put a few quality starts together in order to prove he is worthy of a spot on fantasy teams.
