Nathan pulls out of WBC
Fort Myers, FL (Sports Network) - Twins closer Joe Nathan pulled out of the World Baseball Classic Sunday, leaving Team USA without one of baseball's best arms just days before the competition is set to begin.

Nathan cited discomfort in the AC joint in his right shoulder as the reason for his leaving the team. He said he began experiencing discomfort in the offseason.

The 33-year-old Nathan is arguably one of the most successful closers in the game, recording 36 or more saves in each of his five seasons in Minnesota. In 2008, Nathan recorded 39 saves in 68 appearan... More...

Player Notes
Jason Kubel, RF Sunday 9/5, 11:59 AM CT
Updating an earlier item, Jason Kubel (wrist) is back in the Twins lineup Sunday, according to LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Kubel's missed four games since getting plunked in the wrist last Tuesday, but he'll make his return against the Rangers today. His wrist has been feeling better, and we'll get a chance to see how much better against the red-hot CJ Wilson.
Matt Fox, P Sunday 9/5, 11:30 AM CT
Matt Fox has been designated for assignment, according to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:He was moved to make room for Ben Revere, who was recalled Sunday. He started Friday's game, his only big league outing, and allowed two runs off four hits through 5.2 innings in a team win.
Ben Revere, CF Sunday 9/5, 11:24 AM CT
Ben Revere was recalled from Double-A New Britain Sunday, according to LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Revere was a first-rounder in 2007, and he posted a .303 average to go along with 35 steals for New Britain. He'll likely be a pinch runner for the Twins this season.
