Jim Thome, DH Friday 7/4, 9:30 PM CT
Jim Thome went 2-for-4 and notched Chicago's lone RBI in Friday's tough 7-1 loss to Oakland at US Cellular Field. His hit went for a double, which was also the club's only extra base hit of the game.

Our View: That was his 44th RBI of the season, with six coming over his last six games.
Mark Buehrle, P Friday 7/4, 9:22 PM CT
Mark Buehrle surrendered four earned runs on 10 hits over 5.2 innings in Friday's disappointing 7-1 loss to the Athletics at home, with three walks and five strikeouts. Half of the damage came on a two-run homer by Jack Cust.

Our View: Buehrle falls to 6-7, with a 3.91 ERA. Tonight's loss snaps a three-game winning streak, in which he only allowed a total of three earned runs.
Esteban Loaiza, P Friday 7/4, 5:09 PM CT
Esteban Loaiza has been recalled from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte, according to the AP. The 36-year-old vet landed on the DL on June 13 due to right shoulder inflammation.

Our View: Loaiza isn't worth adding to your roster, as he will fight for innings as a middle-reliever, and allowed 16 earned runs over 27 innings of action this season.
Paul Konerko, 1B Friday 7/4, 5:05 PM CT
Paul Konerko has been sent to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his rehab assignment, according to the AP. He is recovering from a left oblique strain. Konerko said, "It’s good we’re winning. My focus is solely on this team getting to the playoffs. I have no other motives, nothing else. It’s about this team getting to the playoffs." The team also recalled veteran hurler Esteban Loaiza from his injury rehab assignment at Charlotte.

Our View: Konerko isn't expected back until after the All-Star break. Hopefully he will have a stronger second half of the season, as he currently holds a .215 batting average.
Nick Swisher, CF Friday 7/4, 8:45 AM CT
Nick Swisher will move from first base to center field when Paul Konerko comes back from the disabled list, according to the Chicago Tribune. "But what decision we're going to make, my center fielder obviously has to be Swisher," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: For what it's worth, Swisher's numbers have been better while playing center field. In 143 at-bats as a center fielder, he has hit .259 with 7 home runs and 17 RBI. In 91 at-bats as a first baseman, he has hit .242 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI.
Javier Vazquez, P Thursday 7/3, 11:08 PM CT
Javier Vazquez suffered his seventh loss of the season despite pitching his first complete game. The White Sox right-hander allowed three runs on four hits, walked one and struck out 10 in the loss.

Our View: The complete game was his first in nearly a year and it was arguably one of Vazquez's best efforts of the season. Not only did he strike out 10, he retired the first 11 batters he faced.
Paul Konerko, 1B Thursday 7/3, 8:35 AM CT
Paul Konerko is getting closer to starting his rehab assignment at Triple-A after taking a second day of intense batting practice, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "It's [close] to getting game-ready for Triple-A soon," he said.

Our View: Konerko likely won't be back until after the All-Star break, and when he does come back, fantasy owners can only hope he improves on his horrid .215 batting average.
Jose Contreras, P Wednesday 7/2, 11:11 PM CT
Chicago RHP Jose Contreras wasn't terribly dominating on the mound against Cleveland this evening, but he got the job done to help his White Sox earn the 6-5 win over the Indians. Contreras pitched six innings to allow four runs (three earned) on six hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Contreras was a worry last month, going 2-3 with a 6.83 ERA. This ranks as one of the best outings he's seen this season and, we hope, serves as a sign of things to come.
A.J. Pierzynski, C Wednesday 7/2, 11:06 PM CT
It was a hard-fought battle, but the White Sox emerged 6-5 over the Cleveland Indians this evening with eight hits spread through six hitters. Catcher A.J. Pierzynski was weapon of choice, going 2-for-5 with two homers on the night, good for two RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Pierzynski quietly hit .326 last month though his run production is lacking (just 11 RBIs through June). Getting off the hump and driving runs in should be priority #1 to improve his offerings moving forward.
John Danks, P Tuesday 7/1, 10:51 PM CT
Chicago LHP John Danks was a force on the mound in support of the extra-innings win over Cleveland tonight, but walked off with no decision. Danks pitched eight innings to allow just one run on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Our View: Danks may not have factored in the decision but he has lowered his season ERA to 2.50. This was his fifth no-decision over his last six starts.
Alexei Ramirez, 2B Tuesday 7/1, 10:47 PM CT
The White Sox and Indians battled through ten innings this evening with the Sox finding a way to win, 3-2. The offense lacked but second baseman Alexei Ramirez got the job done, going 1-for-3 with his sixth double of the season to total two RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Ramirez hit a surprising .355 with thee homers and 17 RBIs las month, and now he's getting off to a strong start in July.
Paul Konerko, 1B Tuesday 7/1, 9:55 AM CT
Paul Konerko's strained oblique basically has his recovery in a holding pattern with the team waiting for him to give OK to increase his workload, according to the Chicago Sun Times. "He's making his steps, he's going forward, but it has to come from his mouth how he feels and how many games he's going to play down there," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: The hope is that Konerko will be back prior to the All-Star break, but the team might play it safe and give him a couple of extra days to work on things before activating him.
Juan Uribe, 2B Tuesday 7/1, 9:52 AM CT
Juan Uribe is no longer needed in Chicago with the emergence of Alexei Ramirez so it appears that the White Sox will try to move their former starting shortstop, according to the Chicago Sun Times. "The only thing I said is, 'Listen, keep doing what you're doing, and we're going to try to do the best thing for you.' We want him to have the best opportunity," manager Ozzie Guillen said.

Our View: Uribe will be a free agent at the end of the year, and given that he is hitting only .215 with three home runs in 135 AB, the Sox likely won't get much in return.
