Colorado's Francis has surgery
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Colorado Rockies ace left-hander Jeff Francis underwent arthroscopic surgery on his pitching shoulder Wednesday for a labral repair and debridement of the left rotator cuff.

The Rockies announced he was being shut down for the upcoming 2009 season last week with continued discomfort in the shoulder. The surgery was then deemed to be of an exploratory nature to determine exactly what was causing the discomfort.

Chris Iannetta went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored against the Indians on Wednesday.

Our View:Iannetta is hitting .389 this spring, and while Miguel Olivo is expected to cut into his playing time this season, he is clearly the better fantasy pick.

Jorge De La Rosa, P

Jorge De La Rosa threw five solid innings against the Indians on Wednesday, striking out six while allowing two runs.

Our View:His spring ERA is now 1.93. You could say he looks ready for the regular season.

Huston Street, P

Huston Street suffered a setback with his shoulder while playing catch on Tuesday and is expected to open the season on the DL, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Street is experiencing tightness in his shoulder, and we'll know more about his ailment after he undergoes an MRI today. Still, the Rockies are going forward under the assumption that he will not be available for the first week or two of the season. Conventional wisdom would put Rafael Betancourt as the next in line to close for Colorado, though he's been dealing with shoulder issues as well, and thus the job could be opened up to Franklin Morales or Manny Corpas, both of whom had spot closing opportunities last season.
