Cubs sign Koskie to minor league deal
Mesa, AZ (Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with infielder Corey Koskie, the club announced Saturday.

Koskie will join the Cubs after he finishes playing for Team Canada in the World Baseball classic.

Koskie has not played in the major leagues since 2006, with Milwaukee, when he batted .261 with 12 home runs and 33 RBI in 76 games. Koskie, 35, spent seven of his nine MLB seasons with Minnesota, and owns a career .275 average with 124 homers and 506 RBI.... More...

Carlos Silva left today's game versus Cincinnati due to tightness in the quadriceps muscle in his right leg, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:That explains why Silva only worked two innings. He said he felt fine after the game, and expects to make his next scheduled start.

Carlos Silva allowed one earned run on one hit over two innings in Sunday's Cactus League game versus Cincinnati. He had one walk and two strikeouts. All of the damage came on a homer by Laynce Nix.

Our View:Silva has been performing well in spring training, and hurled four scoreless innings in his previous outing versus Texas. Silva is coming off a failed two-year stint with the Mariners, and expectations should be tempered if he manages to win a spot in Chicago's rotation though.

Starlin Castro, SS

Saturday 3/20, 6:43 PM CT

Starlin Castro has been sent down to minor league camp by the Cubs, according to Chris DeLuca's (Chicago Sun-Times) twitter page.

Our View:Castro was not expected to make the Cubs out of spring training, but could be back if Ryan Theriot or Mike Fontenot need to miss time due to injuries down the road.
