The Chicago White Sox have released veteran pitcher Esteban Loaiza after he completed his rehab assignment in Double-A, according to MLB.com. "He didn't get it done," said Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen.

Our View:Loaiza was 1-2 with a 5.33 ERA, and even if he does get picked up, he has no use on fantasy teams.

Esteban Loaiza will start Thursday night for Double-A Birmingham in a rehab assignment, according to the Chicago Tribune. Loaiza is recovering from weakness in his right shoulder that is compromising his velocity.

Our View:Loaiza should continue to be ignored, as he will likely serve as nothing more than a long reliever when he returns to the Sox.

Esteban Loaiza has been recalled from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte, according to the AP. The 36-year-old vet landed on the DL on June 13 due to right shoulder inflammation.

Our View:Loaiza isn't worth adding to your roster, as he will fight for innings as a middle-reliever, and allowed 16 earned runs over 27 innings of action this season.

Esteban Loaiza has changed his throwing program as he tries to increase his velocity, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's on the DL with right shoulder inflammation.

Our View:Loaiza is unlikely to join the rotation at any point this season even if he does regain his velocity, rendering him pretty useless in fantasy.

Rather than release him, the White Sox decided to place Esteban Loaiza on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation, according to the Sports Network. As expected, hurler Adam Russell has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to take his spot on the roster.

Our View:The move is retroactive to June 12. Loaiza needs some time to get back into shape and work on his fastball, but the club still thinks he can help them for the stretch run this season. Russell was 3-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 31 innings at Charlotte, and will work out of the bullpen.
