According to the Houston Chronicle Hawkins pitched a scoreless eighth inning Thursday night to extend his scoreless inning streak to nine innings. Our View:Hawkins who struggled early in the season may have found a home in the Astros bullpen. |

August 5, 2008 LaTroy Hawkins picked up his first save with the Astros in the team's 2-0 win over the Cubs on Monday. Hawkins threw five pitches to one batter and got the strikeout as the game was called off due to weather. Our View:Don't expect this too often. It happened by chance and likely won't happen again this season as Hawkins has really struggled. |

July 30, 2008 LaTroy Hawkins will be returning to the NL as he was dealt to the Astros in exchange for minor leaguer Matt Cusick, according to the Houston Chronicle. Our View:Hawkins will add a solid arm to the Astros bullpen, but he really isn't worth a look even in NL only leagues since a ton of things would have to go wrong in the bullpen for him to even sniff a save chance. As for Cusick, he is currently playing at the Single-A level and is years away from making his mark. |

Our View:It is good news for him that he is going to see more action, but not for fantasy owners, as Hawkins holds a 5.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 28.2 innings, with only 18 strikeouts. |

June 6, 2008 LaTroy Hawkins began serving a three-game suspension Friday after his penalty was upheld by the commissioner's office, according to the AP. Hawkins was disciplined for throwing at the Orioles' Luke Scott last month. "I'm disappointed, but you move forward," New York manager Joe Girardi said. "You move forward and you find a way to use your bullpen one guy short." Our View:The Yanks will probably be better off without Hawkins and his 6.07 ERA anyway. |

May 22, 2008 LaTroy Hawkins has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball on Thursday for throwing at the Orioles' Luke Scott, according to the AP. In the sixth inning at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, Hawkins fired a pitch over Scott’s head and was ejected without warning by plate umpire Chuck Meriwether. Scott and Hawkins began gesturing at each other, and both benches and bullpens emptied as players burst onto the field. No punches were thrown. Our View:Hawkins has appealed and the suspension is delayed until a decision is reached. The suspension had been set to begin Thursday, when the Yankees host the Orioles. |
