LaTroy Hawkins's deal with Milwaukee is for two years and worth $7.5 million, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

Our View:All Hawkins has to do is pass a physical for this deal to become official. Get used to him in the eighth inning in Milwaukee.

Updating an earlier report, the Brewers have indeed signed setup man LaTroy Hawkins, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Our View:Assuming Hawkins passes his physical, the deal will become official. Hawkins joins the Brewers' bullpen the same day they upgraded their starting rotation with Randy Wolf. Look for Hawkins to set up closer Trevor Hoffman and be a decent commodity in league's the count holds.

The Brewers have started to aggressively pursue free agent LaTroy Hawkins and could have him signed by the end of the day, according the USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

Our View:The Brewers don't really have a true setup man to closer Trevor Hoffman, a role Hawkins has proven he can handle with success, and thus Milwaukee's interest in him makes a lot of sense.

The Houston Chronicle reports that the Astros are interested in retaining the services of reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

Our View:The catch is that the "Stros likely aren't willing to offer Hawkins a multi-year deal, which it may take to land him. The Orioles, Rays and Diamondbacks have expressed interest, so whichever team is willing to buck up will have the best shot.

Our View:Hawkins is viewed as a backup plan in case they cannot re-sign reliever Rafael Betancourt. Hawkins was notably a key member of Colorado's bullpen back in 2007.
