Doug Mathis will undergo right shoulder surgery to have his bursa sac removed according to the Star-Telegram. He should begin throwing again in two months.

Our View:Mathis had made four starts for the big league club, but was very ineffective. He ends his season with a 6.85 ERA nad a 2.28 WHIP.
August 12, 2008
Rangers activated RHP Doug Mathis from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Our View:Mathis (2-1, 6.85) has been out since mid-June with a shoulder injury.
June 20, 2008
Doug Mathis has been placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation, according to the Star Telegram. Luis Mendoza has been recalled to take his roster spot.

Our View:Not exactly a big loss considering the guy has a 6.85 ERA and 2.28 WHIP. Mendoza will once again look to establish himself with the club.
June 1, 2008
Doug Mathis has been moved up in the rotation to start on Monday against the Indians, the AP reports.

Our View:Mathis is due for a two-start week, with a second outing coming on Saturday against the Rays. He pitched well in his last start, but fantasy owners shouldn't be banking on this 24-year-old right-hander.
May 30, 2008
Doug Mathis will start in the Rangers' rotation in place of Kason Gabbard, who has been placed on the DL, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:Mathis held a 5.56 ERA and 2.03 WHIP over 11.1 innings this season, with only four strikeouts. He does not merit fantasy consideration.
