The MRI on Andy Pettitte's shoulder showed an inflamed rotator cuff and it should heal with rest according to Newsday.

Our View:This is certainly good news for Pettitte who will likely re-sign with the Yankees for at least one more season next year.

Newsday reports that Andy Pettitte has been scratched from his scheduled start this Saturday. Pettitte's left shoulder has been "barking" for some time, and since they are out of it, he will be shut down. He had an MRI done at the start of the last homestand and nothing was found to be structurally wrong. In other words, rest should cure it.

Our View:Pettitte has been pretty terrible since the All-Star break. He is 4-7 with a 5.35 ERA in 13 starts since then. At least he knows he's been off. "I just look at the big thing was me personally. I just think I pitched terrible," said Pettitte. Odds are he still returns to the Yankees rotation in 2009.
September 21, 2008
Andy Pettitte evened his record at 14-14 on Sunday allowing three runs, two earned, over five innings against the Orioles.

Our View:Pettitte has won at least 13 games in 11 of the last 13 seasons and hopes to avoid the first losing season of his career by either picking up a "W" or a no-decision in his final start.
September 16, 2008
Andy Pettitte endured a career high fifth straight loss after giving up four runs in six innings versus the White Sox on Tuesday.

Our View:Pettitte picked up his 14th loss in process and has a 6.91 ERA during this current stretch. Regardless, expect him to give his all in his next outing, the last Yankee Stadium home game.

Andy Pettitte underwent an MRI, but it showed no damage to his shoulder, and he will continue to start the remainder of the season, according to the New York Post.

Our View:There is something wrong with Pettitte's shoulder, however, as he admitted it will take a full offseason in order for it to be 100 percent. He has been horrendous recently, losing his last four games and carrying an ERA over 7.00 in that time.
