June 18, 2008 Brandon Erbe appears to be a roll. The 20-year-old right-hander allowed only one hit and struck out 12 batters over seven shutout innings on Tuesday. Erbe has whiffed 21 batters and allowed only a single hit over his last 14 frames at High-A Frederick. Our View:Erbe has had an up-and-down year at High-A, but it's been generally much better than his work at the same level in 2007. He is just looking to get to Double-A this year, and his major league debut may not come until September 2009, at the very earliest. |

April 28, 2008 Brandon Erbe lowered his ERA to 2.73 at High-A after allowing one run on three hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out six. Our View:Erbe is one reason for optimism regarding Baltimore’s future. He has held his own this season, even after having a terrible year at the same level last season with an ERA above 6.00. A 27/6 K/BB ratio in 29.2 innings shows the strides that he has made with his command. |
