Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. says the Phillies will have top prospect Carlos Carrasco, Kyle Kendrick, J.A. Happ and Drew Carpenter likely compete for one spot in the team's starting rotation, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:Carrasco could be an ace in the majors, but J.A. Happ's performance last season could make it tough for Carrasco to beat him out for a rotation spot at the beginning of the season.

Carlos Carrasco has been promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Carrasco is a top pitching prospect, and the Phillies want him to be challenged by more advanced hitters on the Triple-A level. If he fares well, he could push for a spot in the Phillies' rotation in 2009.

Carlos Carrasco could pitch in the Futures Games on July 13 even though he missed his last Double-A start due to right shoulder tightness, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The injury is not believed to be serious. Carrasco, 21, is 5-7 with a 4.18 ERA over 97.0 innings.

Our View:Keeper league owners likely know all about the Phillies top pitching prospect. Carrasco has been uneven at Double-A this year, but we still love his upside and could see him getting a call in September, if not sooner.

Carlos Carrasco won his third game of the season for Double-A Reading after throwing seven scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, two walks and struck out seven.

Our View:Carrasco has had some hiccups, but he seems ready for Triple-A. He has a 3.25 ERA and 39/14 K/BB ratio in 36 innings. He could be a No. 2 starter for the Phils by next season.

Carlos Carrasco, arguably the Phillies’ best prospect, picked up his first win of the season at Double-A on Sunday. He allowed two runs on five hits in six innings and fanned seven batters.

Our View:The 21-year-old Carrasco has now made two solid starts at Double-A this season, and he has shown far superior control to what he showed at the same level last season. With the Phillies’ struggles to fill the back of their rotation adequately, Carrasco has a chance to make an impact in the majors late this year.
March 3, 2008
Carlos Carrasco worked three scoreless innings against the Yankees on Sunday and has retired 11 of the 13 batters he has faced this spring. He tells the Philadelphia Daily News that he hopes to compete for a rotation spot. Carrasco doesn't turn 21 until March 21. The right-hander is almost certainly headed back to the minors, but he is making a good impression with the Phillies and with keeper league fantasy owners.
