Player Notes
July 14, 2008
Chris Tillman didn't pick up a win, but he tossed five shutout innings against Harrisburg on Monday. The 20-year-old right-hander is 7-3 with a 2.94 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 91 strikeouts over 88.2 innings at Double-A Bowie this season.

Our View:Tillman, who came over the in the Erik Bedard deal, is in the middle of an excellent campaign. He has had some control issues, but we imagine he could see a taste of Triple-A and possibly the majors before the end of the season.

Chris Tillman was terrific for Double-A Bowie on Thursday, throwing six scoreless innings for his fourth win. He allowed three hits, two walks and struck out nine.

Our View:The 20-year-old continues to impress, as he is dominating Double-A hitters. His ERA is down to 2.41 with more than a strikeout per inning through eight starts. His control is still an issue, but Tillman has incredible upside.

Chris Tillman allowed only one hit in six shutout innings for Double-A Bowie to improve his record to 3-0 on Friday. He walked three batters and struck out six.

Our View:Tillman, one of the prospects acquired from Seattle for Erik Bedard, has been extremely impressive this season. The 20-year-old has a 2.87 ERA and nearly a strikeout per inning. Walks are still a problem for him, but his success relative to age solidifies his status as an outstanding pitching prospect. We could see him in the majors by next season.

The Orioles acquired Chris Tillman from the Mariners as part of the Bedard deal Friday. Tillman posted a combined ERA of 4.84 with 139 strikeouts in 135 2/3 innings between Low- and High-A. He won't turn 20 until April and was arguably Seattle's top pitching prospect.
