Johnny Cueto tossed three scoreless innings in Thursday's win over the Brewers.

Our View:He allowed just one hit and one walk in his three frames, and looked much better in his second spring start. Cueto is slated as the Reds third starter this season, but owners beware as he has a history of starting out white hot and then breaking down. Injuries and ineffectiveness seem to always enter the picture after the All Star break.

Johnny Cueto allowed four runs on five hits and four walks over six innings on Saturday, but hung on for the victory. He fanned six in the 8-4 win over the Pirates.

Our View:Cueto finishes the 2009 season with an 11-11 record and a 4.41 ERA. He struggled in the second half though, posting an ERA near six and amassing a 3-5 record.

Johnny Cueto allowed three runs in 7.1 innings on Sunday, enough to do in the Reds, as they lost 3-2 in Houston.

Our View:Cueto also walked five batters. He is now 10-11 with a 4.35 ERA in 165.1 innings this season.

Johnny Cueto lasted just long enough to get the victory over the Pirates on Tuesday. He went five innings and gave up two runs on nine hits. The right-hander fanned two and did not walk a batter in the 10-4 win.

Our View:Cueto has lasted six innings just once in his last eight starts and has only one quality start in his last nine. Both years of his young career he has started off with a bang and then crumbled in the second half.

Johnny Cueto was sent home by the Reds on Wednesday due to a case of the flu, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Mark Sheldon. The team indicated that Matt Maloney would start on Thursday if Cueto is not able to go.

Our View:Cueto has been pitching better as of late, so it would be unfortunate for him and the team if he was unable to go. If he can't make it, Maloney is not a fantasy option in the spot start.
