Player Notes
September 14, 2008
Bowker has accepted an invite to play in the Dominican Winter League, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:Bowker has really struggled this season after a fast start to his major league career. He will compete for a job next spring.
September 3, 2008
John Bowker is back with the Giants as he was recalled from Triple-A Fresno Tuesday, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Bowker received 301 at-bats with the Giants this season, and should be active through September, and is worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues. He only hit .246 but blasted nine homers and generated 40 RBI.
August 13, 2008
The San Francisco Giants underwent a major roster change, sending first baseman John Bowker and catcher Steve Holm to Triple-A while designating third baseman Jose Castillo for assignment, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View:Bowker and Castillo each had on-base percentages under .300, while Holm was moved so the team could take a look at promising catcher Pablo Sandoval.
August 12, 2008
Due to his struggles, the Giants are considering sending John Bowker to the minor leagues, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View:Bowker has not hit a home run since July 2, and has hit under .200 in each of the past two months. He has no fantasy value right now.
July 14, 2008
John Bowker leads the Giants with nine home runs and he is the first rookie to lead the team in that department at the All-Star break since Dave Kingman, who had 21 back in 1972, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Bowker should remain solid in NL-only leagues over the second half of the season.
