Barton (oblique) has increased the aggressiveness of his workouts recently and hopes to return from the DL on Tuesday, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Barton will be used as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement again when he does return.
August 26, 2008
The Cardinals placed Brian Barton on the DL Tuesday with a strained right oblique. He was injured on Sunday.

Our View:Barton was 3-for-3 in his first start back but now is headed back to the DL. He'll be back up in September.
August 15, 2008
Brian Barton has been activated from the DL, according to the AP. He has been out since July 6 with a deep bone bruise on his right wrist. The Cardinals placed Chris Carpenter on the 15-day DL as the adjoining move.

Our View:Barton batted .246 with two homers and 11 RBI over 63 games with St. Louis this season, and is only worth consideration in deeper NL-only leagues.
August 13, 2008
Cardinals outfielder Brian Barton is with the team and ready to return from his stint on the DL, according to StLCardinals.com.

Our View:Barton is hitting .246 in limited at-bats and is not a fantasy option.
August 9, 2008
Brian Barton will return from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Barton has played well in Memphis, with a .309 average and three home runs in 55 at-bats there. He doesn't get much playing time in the big leagues, so his fantasy value is low.
