Jay Bruce belted his 18th home run of the season, going 1-for-3 against the Indians on Saturday.

Our View:It was a typical stat line for Bruce, who continues to leave the yard at a very fine pace despite a batting average floating just barely above .200. He'll continue to bug his owners if he doesn't begin to collect more hits, though he remains a must-start given his great power.

Jay Bruce drove in two runs on Thursday in the Reds 7-5 win over Toronto, but still went just 1-for-5, dipping his average to .213.

Our View:Bruce has 17 home runs this season, but has still yet to reach 40 RBIs and has now struck out 54 times in 69 games. If you can stomach his abysmal average, he is worth starting because of his prolific power. However, if he doesn't improve his approach at the plate soon, the power could dry up, too.

Jay Bruce drove in two runs on Tuesday, but the Reds fell 7-5 to Toronto.

Our View:It was the first time Bruce had driven in a run without hitting a home run since May 31. He will probably eventually be a great big league hitter, but unless you are absolutely desperate for power, he might not be worth starting at this point in time because of his woeful .216 average.

Jay Bruce pounded another homer on Saturday in the Reds' 10-8 loss to the White Sox. Bruce went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, a run scored, and an RBI in the game.

Our View:Bruce is not putting up a great average, but the power is still there. He now has 17 bombs on the year, and if he starts to get more consistent, he can be a top notch fantasy outfielder.

Jay Bruce went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored in the Reds 4-2 win over the Nationals on Wednesday.

Our View:Bruce entered the game a mere 3-for-36 in his last 10 games. It's too early to call the slump over, though. Bruce has hit poorly all season long and his average currently stands at .218.
