Player Notes

Jay Bruce went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Our View:Bruce missed over 60 games last season with an injury, but is a legit source of power and young slugger on the rise. He's a solid sleeper this season and could be poised for a breakout year if he can stay healthy.

Jay Bruce had a tough day at the plate on Thursday in the Reds' 13-0 loss to the Cards. Bruce went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the blowout loss.

Our View:Bruce has been smoking hot over the last week, but he struggled badly at the dish today. He was going against Cy Young candidate Chris Carpenter today, so a tough afternoon isn't a complete shocker. If he can stay healthy next season, he could be in line for a big year.

Jay Bruce clubbed two home runs and drove in five in the Reds convincing 7-2 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Our View:Bruce has now hit four homers and driven in nine in his last four games. He's amassed six hits and scored seven runs over that span, and it's safe to say he's swinging a hot stick.

Jay Bruce appears to be getting his swing back. The talented youngster went 2-for-3 with his 20th homer, three RBI and three runs scored in the Reds explosive 10-4 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Our View:Bruce now has homers in back to back games and has driven in 11 since returning from the DL on September 14th.

After being sidelined since early June with a broken wrist, Jay Bruce went 2-for-4 with two RBI in his fourth game back in the Reds lineup on Thursday.

Our View:He now has four RBI since being activated. He could be a great mid-to-late round gamble in 2010.
