Player Notes
September 4, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes will have his next start pushed back to Sunday after he spent some time away from the team for the birth of his first child., according to MLB.com. James Parr will start in his place on Thursday night against the Nationals.

Our View:Parr was 13-7 with a 3.52 ERA in 28 starts in the minors this season and appears to be auditioning for a role in the Braves rotation for the 2009 season with the uncertainties that are John Smoltz and Tim Hudson. Reyes has stunk of late anyway going 0-6 with a 7.75 ERA in his past nine appearances, maybe his kid will wake him up from the fog he has been in.
August 19, 2008
Atlanta LHP Jo-Jo Reyes watched a strong performance go down the tubes this evening as his offense failed to support the cause, falling 8-3 to the Mets. Reyes pitched six innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Reyes gets no decision, stuck at 0-3 over his last five starts running through July and August. He's allowed more than a few earned runs along the way, 17 to be exact (two more than he surrendered through six June starts combined).
August 18, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Richmond to start Tuesday in place of Tom Glavine, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Reyes was dealt a loss in five of his last six outings with the Braves, and is only worth consideration in deeper NL-only leagues for roster depth.
July 28, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes was sent down to Triple-A Richmond on Monday, according to the AP. He has surrendered 17 runs in his last 13.1 innings.

Our View:Reyes won't stick around Triple-A long. The Braves simply had a need for fresh arms and Reyes went 2.2 innings on Sunday. However, he has lost his last five starts so he likely has some things to work on.
July 5, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes fell to 3-7 on Saturday by allowing four tuns to the Astros in 4.1 innings. Reyes allowed six hits and three walks while only striking out two.

Our View:Reyes has now lost three straight decisions and six of his last seven. He still is maintaining average ratios (4.40 ERA, 1.43 WHIP), but those clearly aren't numbers you should be running out there each week.
June 29, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes held the Blue Jays to six hits and one run over seven innings on Sunday, but the Braves lost 1-0. The 23-year-old southpaw walked two, struck out five, and slipped to 3-6.

Our View:The Braves have to be pleased with this youngster's progression. Reyes owns a 3.22 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts over his last seven starts. He has only managed one win during that span, but it's hardly his fault. Fantasy owners who have him in a keeper league should be excited.
June 18, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes gave up two runs on five hits in seven innings, striking out three and walking four. The left-hander wasn't involved in the decision after leaving the game tied at 2.

Our View:Reyes continues to impress. His performance was even more impressive due to the lineup and the venue he pitched against and in. The southpaw held the highest scoring offense in the majors and did it in hitter-friendly Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. His BB rate is still unattractive but the young lefty is learning on the job and faced the best tonight.
June 13, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes allowed two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out five in eight innings and the Braves defeated the Angels 5-2 on Friday night.

Our View:The left-hander retired 14 of his last 16 batters after the Angels took a 2-1 lead on Howie Kendrick's two-out RBI double in the third.
June 7, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes piled up eight strikeouts over 7.1 innings, but he allowed two home runs and four runs to pick up his fourth loss.

Our View:Reyes long ago lost the feel good aura that was surrounding him. He is now 0-2 in his last four decisions and he has allowed 17 earned runs over his last four starts (6.04 ERA).
June 2, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes will take the hill against Florida tonight, and he will be looking to build upon his last start, when he only allowed one earned run on two hits over seven innings against the Brewers on May 28, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He also struck out a season-high nine batters against the Brewers, but was dealt a loss, in a 1-0 final. Reyes had been bothered by a blister on the index finger on his left hand, but it was healed by his last start as well.
May 28, 2008
Atlanta LHP Jo-Jo Reyes pitched a gem for the Braves, but the bats failed to show as his team suffered the 1-0 loss to Milwaukee. Reyes pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on a grand total of two hits surrendered, walking three and striking out nine.

Our View:Reyes is now 2-3 in six starts, though tonight is a nice break in what was becoming an alarming trend of struggle, having allowed a combined 14 earned runs and four home runs over his last three starts before tonight's heartbreaking loss.
May 18, 2008
Atlanta LHP Jo-Jo Reyes didn't last terribly wrong but his effort was good for the win as the Braves put the 5-2 hex on the Oakland Athletics. Reyes went five innings, giving up just two runs (both earned) on eight hits, touting two walks with six strikeouts on the day

Our View:Reyes surrendered his first home run on the season and now carries seven walks versus 17 strikeouts through four starts.
May 13, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes had a poor outing on Tuesday night as he permitted 11 hits and five runs in 6.2 innings for the Braves.

Our View:Reyes now has a 4.30 ERA after three starts, though with 20 hits allowed in 14.2 innings we are a bit worried about his ability to stay productive moving forward making him best left for spot duty in NL Only leagues.
May 8, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes was forced out of action in the third inning today, due to an apparent blister on his throwing hand, according to the AP.

Our View:He was replaced on the hill by Buddy Carlyle. We will keep you posted when more details are released regarding his injury.
May 3, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes made his first start in the rotation in place of the injured John Smoltz on Saturday against Cincinnati, and he came through with a win, as he only allowed one run on four hits over 5.1 innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Reyes made a blip on the fantasy radar with his strong performance, and he is worth a look if you need help at the position right now. Smoltz may return to the bullpen upon his return from the DL.
May 3, 2008
LHP Jo-Jo Reyes will make his first start of the 2008 season this evening as the Atlanta Braves welcome the Cincinnati Reds, the middle game of a three-game set, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Reyes is getting the call to the mound in place of John Smoltz, recently placed on the DL with irritation in his rotator cuff inside his right shoulder.
April 9, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes threw five scoreless innings at Triple-A, allowing only one hit and striking out six. He struggled with his control in the majors last season, but he is still likely the first man in line for starts in the minors. Of course, if Mike Hampton ever makes it back healthy, Reyes could have a tough time getting starts in the Atlanta organization in 2008.
April 3, 2008
The Braves will recall Jo-Jo Reyes from Triple-A Richmond to replace the injured Mike Hampton on the roster, according to the AP. Reyes' stay in the big leagues figures to be brief, as the team will activate Chuck James sometime next week to replace Hampton in the rotation.
March 19, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes gave up five runs to the Tigers on March 14, and had another rough outing on Wednesday as he allowed five runs on six hits over four innings of work against Houston, with four walks and three strikeouts. He was fighting for a rotation spot, but lost more ground with today's performance. His spring ERA now sits at 9.82.
March 14, 2008
Jo-Jo Reyes allowed seven hits, two walks and five runs over three innings to the Tigers on Thursday. "Jo-Jo had a rough day with his control and location," manager Bobby Cox said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Reyes is trying to win a spot in the rotation but hasn't performed well his last two outings. He may end up beginning the season at Triple-A Richmond, if he can't turn it around quickly.
March 3, 2008
Left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes, a candidate for the final slot in the Braves rotation, allowed two hits and a run in two innings of work on Monday. Reyes was 2-2 last year in 10 starts with a 6.22 ERA. Reyes' Achilles last year was his 30 walks in 50.2 innings pitched.
