Player Notes
July 1, 2008
Philadelphia RHP Kyle Kendrick earned his eighth win of the season, leading his Phillies to a strong 8-3 win over Atlanta. Kendrick pitched six innings to allow three runs (all earned) on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Our View:This gives Kendrick consecutive wins and a strong start to the month of July, coming off a 3-1 record through June and a 5-1 record over May and June.
June 26, 2008
Kyle Kendrick was at his absolute best as he kept the Athletics off-balance for eight scoreless innings to earn his seventh victory of the year.

Our View:Kendrick was hit hard in his last outing against the Red Sox but tonight he bounced back in a big way limiting the A's to just four hits. Kendrick is one of a long line of pitchers that can break your heart from start to start given a lack of dominating stuff.
June 18, 2008
Kyle Kendrick had arguably his worst outing of the year on Wednesday. He served up six hits and six runs (two homers) over three innings against the Red Sox. Kendrick dropped to 6-3, and his ERA jumped from 4.54 to 5.06.

Our View:Kendrick had been pitching pretty well coming into this contest, but the mighty Red Sox jumped all over his stuff. We'll chalk it up to a middle-of-the-road hurler simply having a bad day.
June 18, 2008
Kyle Kendrick is working to refine two additional pitches in his arsenal, a change-up and a cutter. He is using the change-up in games, but the cutter is an experiment at the moment. "Obviously, the change-up is a big deal for me right now," Kendrick tells the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'm picking it up and learning that. If it comes next start, if it comes next year, two years, who knows? If I can get that down, it's going to help me tremendously... If I can throw (the cutter) for strikes when I'm behind in the count and command it, that's when we'll take it into games."

Our View:The 23-year-old hurler hasn't been able to fully repeat his rookie success this year, although he is 6-2. It's good to see Kendrick working hard to improve, and he's doing something right. Kyle has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last four outings.
June 13, 2008
Kyle Kendrick pitched seven strong innings and contributed two hits and an RBI and the Phillies had a season-high 21 hits in a 20-2 victory over the Cardinals on Friday night. The right-hander allowed two runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out one for his sixth win of the season.

Our View:Kendrick lowered his ERA to 4.54 -- and while it wasn't pretty at times -- the second-year starter had such a big lead he was simply pitching to contact and letting his defense do the rest.
