Nate Schierholtz is believed to be the top candidate to start in right field for the Giants in 2010, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:The 26-year-old outfielder batted .267 with five homers, 29 RBI and a .302 on-base percentage in 2009, which was his first full campaign in the majors. His fantasy stock could be on the rise following the departure of Randy Winn to the Yankees.

Nate Schierholtz drove in he only run of the game on Wednesday as the Giants outlasted the Reds 1-0. Schierholtz went 2-for-4 with two doubles and the RBI.

Our View:Schierholtz has been hot since returning from the DL, hitting .333 in his 18 at-bats. He has been a good hitter all season, but his lack of power makes his fantasy value lower than it could be.

Giants' beat writer Andrew Baggarly is reporting that the team has activated Nate Schierholtz of the DL. Schierholtz has been out since late July with a strained hip.

Our View:Schierholtz is hitting fith and playing right field tonight, and he hopes to pick up where he left off before he got hurt. He is hitting .295 with the team this season, but he has only four homers and 20 RBI, making his fantasy stock awfully low.

Nate Schierholtz (strained hip) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Schierholtz was batting .295 with 20 RBI when he went down with the injury in late July. If he looks good in his rehab assignment, he could rejoin the team quickly and give them back some much needed outfield depth.
July 28, 2009
The San Francisco Giants have placed Nate Schierholtz on the 15-day DL with a strianed left hip and internal bleeding, according to the blog of Giants' beat writer Andrew Baggarly. The roster spot vacated by Schierholtz will be assumed by the newly acquired Ryan Garko.

Our View:Schierholtz is expected to be able to return when he is eligible, but for now he will be out. Schierholtz is hitting .295 this season, and he should get playing time when he returns from the injury.
