Dallas Braden allowed a pair of runs on three hits over three innings of work on Thursday.

Our View:Braden did manage to fan three in the game, but allowed a two-run homer to Ryan Braun. He's slated to be the A's fifth starter this season, but in an always shuffling organization loaded with potential young talent, he'll likely have to be sharp this spring to keep his job.

MLB.com is reporting that the A's believe it is unlikely that pitcher Dallas Braden will return to the team this season. Braden was placed on the DL on August 1 with a foot infection.

Our View:The team has said they would like to get Braden back for at least a few starts this season, but it is starting to look like he is done for the year. The never issue is not in good shape, and the smart thing to do would be to let him rest and get fully healed and ready for next season.

Updating an earlier report, Dallas Braden is less likely to return to Oakland this season after a neurologist stated that a nerve in his ailing left foot is traumatized, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:This is a setback for Braden, but skipper Bob Geren would still like to get him back, even if for only a few starts near the end of the season. Geren also still intends to go with a six-man rotation in September, with or without Braden in the mix.

According to MLB.com, A's starter Dallas Braden could rejoin the team when they begin a four game series against the Angels in LA on Thursday. Braden is trying to return from a left foot infection.

Our View:Braden's projected return to the mound was early in September, so he could be a bit ahead of schedule. Nor word yet on when he will pitch, but it looks like it could possibly be some time this weekend.
August 18, 2009
Dallas Braden is likely out until September as he needs to rebuild his arm strength after being shut down by a rash on his left foot, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Braden will have to throw at least one bullpen session, pitch in a simulated game and potentially make a minor league rehab start, and A's skipper Bob Geren does not expect him to return this month. He shall remain patiently stashed on fantasy rosters.
