Player Notes
August 16, 2008
Brett Gardner came through with a game-winning RBI single on Saturday afternoon. He went 3-for-5 in the game, and his biggest hit came in the 13th inning. The Yankees defeated the Royals 3-2.

Our View:Gardner should play fairly regularly following the demotion of Melky Cabrera. He has pretty good speed and a decent bat. Gardner isn't a great fantasy addition, but he could help AL-only clubs.

As expected, the Yankees recalled Brett Gardner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday to take Melky Cabrera's spot on the roster.

Our View:Gardner is expected to play every day in center, at least until Hideki Matsui is ready. He is worth an AL-only bid because of his speed.
July 11, 2008
Brett Gardner struggled at the plate once again on Friday. The rookie went 0-for-3 but somehow managed his fifth stolen base of the season.

Our View:Gardner looks like a Michael Bourn clone. Despite an OBP hovering around .150 through eight games, he has managed five stolen bases.
July 6, 2008
Brett Gardner hit a 10th-inning RBI single off Jonathan Papelbon, to help the Yankees beat the Red Sox on Sunday. He finished the night 2-for-5 with a run, RBI, and stolen base.

Our View:Gardner looks like he'll be an exceptional source of stolen bases but his batting average and on-base percentages are a concern at this point. He may be worth a flier if you got a roster spot to waste. In keeper leagues, he is far more valuable.
July 6, 2008
Brett Gardner, hitting just 1-for-16 since his call-up last week, figures to start over the next two weeks after Johnny Damon was placed on the DL Sunday.

Our View:Gardner has not hit well thus far, but if he can get on base, he offers value to fantasy teams. Despite just one hit, he has scored three times, stole two bases and managed a pait of RBI.
