According to USA Today, the Los Angeles Angels have set up a team award in memory of deceased pitcher Nick Adenhart. The award, named the Nick Adenhart Pitcher of the Year award, will be awarded to the Angels' pitcher who is deemed most outstanding throughout the year.

Our View:This is a nice way to keep Adenhart in the minds of everyone in the Angels' organization. The team is still mourning the tragic events of his death, but now he will live forever as a member of the Angels.

According to SI.com, the man driving the other car that killed Angels' pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people was charged with triple murder.

Our View:The driver was drunk and fled the scene after the accident and appears to be getting what he deserves. This was a terrible tragedy and a shock to not only the baseball world, but to the families of those who were lost.

Nick Adenhart was killed in a hit-and-run accident hours after his start against the A's on Wednesday night, according to TMZ.com. According to the report, cops say that someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the car Adenhart was riding in to hit a pole. The driver of the minivan fled the scene before eventually being apprehended and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Our View:This is obviously devastating news. Adenhart was just 22 years old, nevermind the fact that he was a terrific prospect. Two others, a man and a woman, also died in the crash.

Nick Adenhart scattered seven hits and three walks while holding the A's scoreless through six innings on Wednesday. The bullpen eventually blew the game leaving the young starter with a no decision.

Our View:Adenhart will have to show well at the start of the season if he hopes to hold a spot in the rotation once some of the veteran starters get healthy. He figures to be the odd man out, but more starts like tonight's would certainly help his case.

Nick Adenhart has returned to camp after being scratched from Wednesday's start due to the flu, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View:Adenhart is competing for a spot in the Angels' rotation, but he needs work on his command and lacks a dominant pitch, meaning he should be left for deeper AL-only leagues.
