After dropping his appeal, Indians infielder Asdrubal Cabrera began serving his three-game suspension on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Cabrera will be available to return on Friday. He is not much of a fantasy option, so his absence likely won't be felt in that regard.

Asdrubal Cabrera has been suspended three games for his part in the Tigers-Indians brawl last Friday, according to the Associated Press. Cabrera's penalty is set to start on Thursday, though it is unclear if he will appeal the ruling.

Our View:Cabrera is hitting .413 in 63 September at-bats with a 1.032 OPS, so his loss is clearly a pretty big blow to fantasy squads. The only hope is that he will appeal the ruling and serve it at the start of next season, but that seems rather unlikely.

Asdrubal Cabrera went 0-for-3 on Sunday from the ninth hole to drop his average to .247.

Our View:Why is this news? How about because Cabrera has quietly been smoking at the plate hitting .463 in 14 September games and .310 over his last 51 starts. He has clearly reestablished himself as the Indians starter at second base and a potential middle infield play in deep mixed leagues next year.

With 22 total hits in the game, the Orioles and Indians were happy to do battle with the bats tonight, though the Indians prevailed 7-5. The Indians used shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera as the weapon of choice, going 3-for-4 at the dish with his 12th double of the season, adding one RBI and two runs scored.

Our View:Cabrera has steadily improved and already has two homers in August, just one shy of his season total entering the month.

Asdrubal Cabrera was forced out of Wednesday's game in the sixth inning with what appears to be an ankle injury.

Our View:He was injured while running back onto the field to take his position. We will keep you posted when more details regarding his status are disclosed.
July 18, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera is expected to be officially recalled from Triple-A Buffalo today, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Manager Eric Wedge commented on his return to the Indians by saying, "I just felt like it was the right time. We think he's on the right path physically and he's shown better fundamentals. He's getting back to the player he needs to be. We'll have some challenges for his playing time."

Our View:Wedge is referring to him pushing Jamey Carroll at second base, and noted that Cabrera will spell Jhonny Peralta at shortstop when needed, and added that he is expected to play quite a bit. He is worth a look in AL-only leagues, assuming he can bounce back and raise his .184 batting average.

The Indians are expected to recall infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from Triple-A Buffalo prior to Friday's game against Seattle, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Indians already outrighted infielder Jorge Velandia off the 40-man roster to Triple-A Buffalo today.

Our View:Cabrera opened the season as the Indians' starting second baseman, but was sent down in June as he struggled with a .184 average over 52 games. He is expected to remain at second, and could split time with Jamey Carroll. He is worth a look in AL-only leagues if you could use depth in your middle infield.
June 27, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera has been hitting over .400 at Triple-A Buffalo since being demoted in early June, this according to the Akron Beacon Journal. The report notes there is no timetable for bringing the infielder back to Cleveland. Asked if there was a time frame for his return, Wedge said, ''No we don't have one. We just want him to play. This is more about his daily routine than just baseball,'' Wedge said. ''He's headed in the right direction; he just needs to keep it going.''

Our View:Part of the issue with Cabrera when he was on the roster was his conditioning and the team is working with him on a more regimented routine.
June 9, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The team recalled second baseman John Barfield as an adjoining move.

Our View:Barfield was the Indians' starting second baseman in 2007 before Cabrera unseated him. Cabrera failed to keep his job this season, as he struggled with a .184 average over 52 games, with 40 strikeouts.
June 5, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera was held out of the Indians lineup for one more day due to his injured hip, according to MLB.com. Cabrera, who was injured in batting practice while fielding ground balls on Wednesday is expected back in the lineup for the Indians next contest.

Our View:Jamey Carroll started for the Indians, but the bigger question is why the team continues to run Cabrera out there when he is batting just .192 with one home run in 151 AB while former fantasy star Josh Barfield continues to waste away in the minors.
June 5, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera has been nursing a hip ailment, but is expected to return to the Indians' lineup today, according to MLB.com. Manager Eric Wedge said, "He should be OK. The hip jammed on him pregame, but we thought he was all right to play. It was irritating him a bit. I talked with head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff, and Cabrera felt better after getting treatment."

Our View:If the hip strain were to develop into a deeper issue, Cabrera's backup at second base is Josh Barfield, who (coming into Wednesday) was batting .251 with five home runs, 19 RBI and 16 doubles. Cabrera is only hitting .192 over 151 at-bats, with one homer and 14 RBI.
May 12, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera turned the 14th unassisted triple play in major league history on Monday night, but it wasn't enough for the Cleveland Indians to complete a doubleheader sweep of Toronto.

Our View:It was the highlight of Cabrera's day, the second baseman was 0-for-4 in the nightcap and 1-for-3 in the day affair.
May 1, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera snapped an 0-for-14 slump by connecting for a game-winning bases loaded single in the 11th inning for the Indians.

Our View:Cabrera, dropped to the ninth hole, is hitting only .202 on the year without a home run and 19 K on the early season. Perhaps this will be the springboard he needs to find his stroke, but the team could always turn to Josh Barfield who is currently in the minors.
April 2, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-5 at the plate this evening in Cleveland's 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. Cabrera raked a double and posted two RBIs on the night, bringing him to a .333 average on the season, but he left three men on base.
March 31, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera will bat seventh against lefty Mark Buehrle on Monday, according to MLB.com. When a right-handed starter is on the bump for the opposing team, Manager Eric Wedge will bat Cabrera second, and left fielder David Dellucci seventh. Wedge commented, "It's subject to change. Initially, that's the way we're going to start things off, and we'll go from there."
March 26, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 against Houston on Wednesday, while smacking his third homer of the spring. He is off to a strong start, as he is not anticipated to produce much in the power department.
March 25, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera had a tough day at the plate against Atlanta on Monday as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. His spring average now sits at .293, and he should be the Indians' starting second baseman this season.
March 21, 2008
Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-2 on Friday in the second spot in the Indians order as he continues to make a case for batting at the top of what should be a potent offense. A ton of the value Cabrera could produce this season is dependent on whether he bats second or eighth. In 159 AB last season he hit .283 with a .354 OBP, but the team doesn't want to burden him with too much in what figures to be his first full season in the bigs, so keep an eye on which direction the team ends up going as it will greatly impact his fantasy value.
March 7, 2008
Manager Eric Wedge is concerned that Asdrubal Cabrera could get overwhelmed in his first full big league campaign, so he's considering dropping Cabrera down to the bottom of the batting order to remove some of the pressure, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "We've talked about moving Asdrubal to the bottom of the order to protect him," Wedge said. "I still think he'll end up being a two-hole hitter. He might be that coming out of spring training." Upon being called up in August, Cabrera took over the No. 2 spot in the order and ran with it, so it's safe to expect him to end up there sooner or later. If Wedge does bump Cabrera down in the batting order early on, David Dellucci, Jason Michaels and Franklin Gutierrez would get a look at the batting second.
