He's dealing with a strained right shoulder and will be eligible to come off the DL on April 6. Cherry had a hot spring, allowing one run and striking out 10 in 10 innings of work.
March 18, 2008 The Baltimore Sun's Roch Kubatko believes that Rocky Cherry probably won't make the Orioles' roster in part because they likely will keep Rule 5 pick Randor Bierd and Dennis Sarfate is out of minor league options. He also noted that despite not allowing any runs in eight innings, Cherry has had trouble keeping batters off the bases; Cherry's allowed seven hits and six walks.
August 31, 2007 Rocky Cherry was traded to the Orioles Friday as part of the deal for Steve Trachsel. Cherry posted a 3.00 ERA in 12 games with the Cubs. He was pitching at Triple-A Iowa, where he held a 4.59 ERA with 56 Ks in 51 innings.
