Player Notes
August 6, 2008
For the Braves, it was resurgent LHP Mike Hampton getting the job done to lead his team to an 11-4 win over San Francisco. Hampton pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on just four hits with one walk and two strikeous.

Our View:This is Hampton's first decision of the season and has him off on the right foot. When he's healthy and on, he can be a force. Thus far he's pitched a total of 16 innings over three starts with 12 total earned runs allowed.
July 31, 2008
Mike Hampton saw his ERA drop from 13.50 to 10.00 as he threw five innings and allowed four earned runs in Atlanta's 9-4 win over St. Louis.

Our View:Hampton didn't pitch well, but he was up to his old tricks at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. Unfortunately, only his pitching stats count for fantasy, making him unusable.
July 26, 2008
Making his first start in nearly three years, Mike Hampton was hit hard, lasting just four innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits while walking two.

Our View:Hampton threw 91 pitches, so fatigue didn't seem to be a problem. Rust could have been, though, as he clearly was not sharp.
July 25, 2008
It has been confirmed that Mike Hampton will make the start on Saturday for Atlanta against the Phillies, according to the AP.

Our View:Hampton has not pitched in the bigs in almost three years, so it is not advisable to put him on your fantasy squad.
July 23, 2008
In a surprise move, Mike Hampton could be called upon to start for the Braves this Saturday, according to MLB.com. "I told [the Braves] that I'm ready," Hampton said.

Our View:If Hampton goes on Saturday, he hasn't pitched in the majors since August of 2005, he would replace Jo-Jo Reyes who has been awful of late going 0-5 with a 7.65 ERA. We put the odds of Hampton making the start and not leaving with an injury at about four to one.
