Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the Red Sox' lineup on Friday, according to the Boston Globe. He will be replaced in center by Mark Kotsay.

Our View:Just a night off for Ellsbury, so nothing to worry about here. Get him out tonight if you can, but he should be a safe play for the rest of the weekend.

As expected, Jacoby Ellsbury is penciled into Friday's lineup at Philadelphia after missing the last three games with a shoulder ailment, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Ellsbury will bat seventh in his first game back, but the speed demon should still be employed in fantasy lineups. Opposing hurler Joe Blanton has a 5.46 ERA.

The Boston Globe reports that Jacoby Ellsbury will return on Friday at the earliest. "(The shoulder is) still really tender. If I have to get out there, dive again, steal bases, that's where I could possibly make it worse. But I'm pretty happy how I've felt from yesterday, so good news."

Our View:Ellsbury doesn't seem to be bothered too much throwing or swinging, but he is also aware that his style of play warrants a lot more opportunity to cause further damage to the joint. The Red Sox were able to handle the Yankees fine without him, and they may be better off taking a cautious approach with their center fielder.

Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury will miss a second straight game on Wednesday night due to a strained right shoulder, the Boston Herald confirms. Mark Kotsay will start in his place. Ellsbury remains day-to-day.

Our View:Fantasy owners who started Ellsbury this week are surely cursing, as he's down to only four possible starts this period. Hopefully the team will have some positive news after tonight's game.

Center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury will not be in the Red Sox lineup Tuesday night due to a bruised shoulder according to the Providence Journal. Mark Kotsay will start in his place and he is considered day-to-day.

Our View:He hurt the shoulder making a highlight reel catch on Sunday at Fenway Park against the Rangers. Ellsbury seems to have a propensity to get banged up, but he usually returns quickly. Monitor his status daily and be ready to re-insert him into your lineup.
