Player Notes

Jeff Bailey has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The first baseman could see some action while Kevin Youkilis covers third base in place of the injured Mike Lowell. Bailey blasted 24 homers with Pawtucket this season, and is worth a look in deeper AL-only leagues if you need some help.

The Red Sox have recalled Jeff Bailey from Pawtucket and the first baseman will join the team for the weekend series in Baltimore, this according to the Boston Globe. The report notes that it's uncertain whether he'll be activated for the series against the Orioles.

Our View:Whether Bailey is added to the active roster depends on the health and status of Daisuke Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka was scheduled to undergo an MRI this morning but no reports have been published yet. Bailey has been a hot hitter for the PawSox, hitting two more home runs last night in Pawtucket to give him 16 for the season.

The Red Sox recalled Jeff Bailey prior to yesterday's game. The career minor-leaguer was hitting just .250 with nine homers for Triple-A Pawtucket this season, but he was hitting .301 against lefties. Since the Tigers had a lefty starting Friday and another Sunday, the Sox gave Bailey the call. He was 1-for-4 in his big league debut Friday.
