Player Notes
September 23, 2008
Lou Montanez homered, representing all of the offense for the Orioles in their 5-2 loss to Tampa. He was 1-for-4 with two RBI on the day.

Our View:Montanez has seen irregular playing time, and has not been someone fantasy owners should have been counting on, despite his solid August.

Manager Dave Trembley indicated that outfielder Lou Montanez is going to see more action in the closing weeks of the season to see what he can do, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Montanez holds a solid .324 average over 68 at-bats, and has been productive with 14 runs scored and nine RBI. He is worth picking up in AL-only leagues with more playing time on the horizon this month.
September 2, 2008
Lou Montanez has done nothing but hit for the Orioles since his call-up from the minors. And once again, even in a losing effort, he went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Baltimore's 14-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Our View:Montanez is absolutely a guy fantasy owners should be all over. He hasn't shown great power yet, but he's scored a bunch of runs and rarely strikes out, which is a good sign.

Lou Montanez helped the Orioles win a game on Monday that started in April. Resuming the contest in the 12th inning after it had been suspended in the spring, Montanez hit a bases loaded single in the 14th inning, leading the Orioles to a 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Our View:Montanez has been a quality player in his limited time in the big leagues. He is hitting .375, and is certainly someone fantasy owners should keep in mind if they need outfield depth, especially in AL-only leagues.

Lou Montanez was not available on Saturday due to an injured left hand and wrist. He was hit by a throw on Friday. "Montanez is not able to swing a bat," manager Dave Trembley informs MLB.com. "When he slid into second [Friday] night, he got hit. So he's sore and he's not in the lineup." The outfielder may be able to play on Sunday.

Our View:The ailment doesn't sound serious, and it hopefully won't cool off Montanez's hot bat.
