MASNsports.com is reporting that Lou Montanez underwent successful surgery to reattach two ligaments in his right thumb. He is expected to be out until mid-Spetember.

Our View:The good news is that the surgery was a success. The bad news is that Montanez will be out for most of the season. The O's aren't going anywhere in that division, but it still hurts when you lose anyone who can contribute at the major league level.

Lou Montanez has been officially placed on the 15-day DL, according to the Baltimore Sun. He will have surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right thumb today.

Our View:He will need 6-8 weeks of recovery time. He did not play enough as a reserve outfielder to be missed in fantasy leagues.

Lou Montanez is expected to undergo surgery and be sidelined six-to-eight weeks after an MRI yesterday revealed two torn ligaments in his right thumb, according to MASN Sports.

Our View:Montanez did not receive enough playing time to gain fantasy relevance regardless and should be out the next two months.

MASNsports.com is reporting that the reason Lou Montanez is not in the lineup Sunday is because he is experiencing some swelling in his right thumb after being jammed in his final at-bat on Saturday. Felix Pie started in his place.

Our View:Montanez is coming back from a thumb injury, and it looks as if this is more of a precautionary move than anything. Expect him to be back in the lineup soon, as this injury doesn't look serious.

Lou Montanez is expected to return to the diamond tonight against the Twins following his recovery from a sprained right thumb, according to MASN Sports.

Our View:Montanez is only hitting .174 over 23 at-bats, but will get a chance to play as Felix Pie is hitting worse with a .164 average.
