Player Notes
August 20, 2008
Mark Reynolds has been taking ground balls at second base during batting practice, according to DBacks.com. Outfielder Justin Upton will make his return soon, and to get the best offense on the field, it could lead Reynolds to second, Chad Tracy to third and Adam Dunn to first.

Our View:Reynolds owners should be happy to hear this news, as he would soon become eligible to play second in fantasy leagues. Which means Reynolds could be replacing a hitter who does not have much power (outside of the Chase Utley's of the world, of course). That would open up rosters for adding another third baseman with the potential for more long balls.

The move of Adam Dunn from Cincinnati to Arizona could turn Mark Reynolds into a second baseman. The season-ending wrist injury to Orlando Hudson and the addition of Dunn will shuffle the Diamondbacks lineup. Justin Upton is nearing a return from the disabled list, which will force the hand of the coaching staff.

Our View:If Upton returns to his starting spot in right field Dunn will have to find a place to play. That figures to be in left field or first base. Picture this: Dunn moves to left field, Conor Jackson skips across the diamond to first base, Chad Tracy crosses the pitching mound to third base and Mark Reynolds gets the start at second. Of course, Upton could lose his starting status and become a bench hitter and rover.
August 4, 2008
Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds had a big night in his team's victory over Pittsburgh, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.

Our View:Reynolds is a very streaky hitter, and he struggled in July and the beginning of August, so maybe this is the beginning of a hot streak.
July 31, 2008
Mark Reynolds had two hits on Wednesday including his 22nd long ball of the year for Arizona.

Our View:Reynolds already has 132 strike outs on the year in just 354 at-bats, and if not for the presence of Ryan Howard everyone would be talking about this king of whiff. He has enough power to stay in the lineup, but he must rectify his utter inability to make contact.
July 13, 2008
Mark Reynolds 0-for-4 with three strikeouts for the Diamondbacks today, and his average for the month of July is now under .200.

Our View:Reynolds is a very streaky hitter, and though he has good power numbers, his average being under .250 hurts those who have him on their fantasy squad.
