The Washington Times reports that Matt Chico will undergo reconstructive "Tommy John" surgery.

Our View:He will miss the rest of the season, which may be good news for the Nats. Chico was 0-6 with a 6.19 ERA this year.

Matt Chico's MRI results have shown loose bone fragments in his throwing elbow, according to the Washington Times.

Our View:He will be re-examined by team doctors, but could be facing surgery. He held no fantasy value, as he was 0-6 this season, with a 6.19 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.

The Nationals sent down pitcher Matt Chico on Friday, the Washington Post confirms.

Our View:The southpaw has been a big disappointment after a decent rookie campaign. He can still be a No. 4 or 5 guy for the Nats in the future, but we don't know that he'll ever have much fantasy value.

Updating an earlier report, Matt Chico will indeed replace an injured Shawn Hill to start the Nationals game on Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:This plan could still change if Chico is forced to come out of the pen to support Tim Redding on Monday night, but it appears that Chico should he ready to start against the Phillies, though that certainly doesn't mean you should have him in your starting lineup.

After Shawn Hill continued to experience discomfort in his pitching elbow during Friday's start, the Nationals believe the right-hander's turn in the rotation will be skipped, which is scheduled for Wednesday at home against Philadelphia, notes the Washington Post. "For the good of the kid, we're probably going to end up skipping him," Acta said. "We'll get together tomorrow and make that decision." Acta said left-hander Matt Chico , who was moved to the bullpen after starting the season 0-5 with a 6.87 ERA, is a candidate to start in Hill's place.

Our View:Asked if this was something Hill would have to deal with all season, Acta said: "There's a very good chance that that's going to be the situation because nothing has been found in the tests and he's going to have to pitch through pain." Owners should obviously bench Hill this week and hope he doesn't have to make another trip to the DL.
